Would a VH/DLR reunion alienate female fans who the band may have attracted throughout the nineties?

DLR may have been the desire of every woman in the 1980s, but what about now?

My girlfriend hadn't really even heard of VH before she met me. I've tried to get her into the band. The only DLR era song she likes is 'Jump'. However, she likes quite a few Sammy era songs (you guessed it - her favorite is 'Not Enough'.)

I wonder what women today would make of Dave's image. I showed my girlfriend a recent picture of Dave on tour with Sammy, because I wanted to point out how young/good he looked for his age. She said that he looked young for his age, but rather than asking "how young does this guy look to you?" I should have asked her "how gay does this guy look to you?"

It seems the general consensus is that a DLR/VH reunion will please more fans and sell more albums. But I'm wondering if people are taking into account the possibility that Dave's image and less-radio friendly style may repel younger music fans - the ones who buy the most albums.

I'm not saying that I think DLR will make worse music than SH if either reunited with VH, I'm just wondering if Dave would actually sell more albums with the band, because potential new fans - especially females, might not get him.

    Comments from females especially welcome!

I think Sam and Dave are above Erkel and the A Team on the hip list.

Based on album sales I didn't think Van Halen attracted ANY new fans in the nineties

Radio would not be friendly to the band in any incarnation. Classic rock radio would likely be the only outlet to touch new VH, and more likely w/ DLR than SH.
