Jump is the gratest single ever, but ...which lead singer performing better?
Dave Roth¨s original(from 1984 album)version is really amazing,but the redrocker:Hagar´s
version is too cool.
Well... what do u think?

"...I get up and nothing gets me down. You got it tough.I´ve seen the toughest around.
And I know ,baby, just how you feel. You´ve got to roll with the punches to get to what´s real.Oh can´t you see me standing here,I´ve my back against the record machine.I ain´t the worst that you´ve seen.
Oh cant you see what i mean?
Might as well JUMP!!!!!

All, I have to say is it's not very cool to fcuk with lyrics. Sammy did that often to Dave songs. (Panama, Jump, Ain't Talkin bout Love) And as for the versions........ the original. No beating it. Ever.

This is what I hate, I'll show you the part...

I get up and nothin' gets me down.
You got it tough.
I've seen the toughest around. (oh)
And I knooooow,
baby just how you feel. (yes)

I got my ass against the record machine. [I don't like that]
I ain't the worst you seen baby. You got to roooll with the punches,
to get to what's real.
Oh can't ya see me here,
You know what I mean.
Wow! [I don't like that sceam]
Might as well Jump. (Jump)
Well, go ahead and Jump. (Jump)
I said Jump. (Jump)
Well, go ahead and Jump.
Oooh, oh.
You got to roooll with the punches, [I can't stand this]
to get to what's real.
Oh can't ya see me here,
ect.....

Those lyrics need not to be changed.

I think Gary did a better job on Jump than Sammy.

Moving this to opinions.

I would much rather compare a whole different band singing JUMP than Dave or Sammy. I would have to say Dave because he was the original singer.
Now, let's say Pearl Jam and Aerosmith both did this as a cover, it would be a lot easier to choose

The original version is always the best, so my answer is Dave.

I also hate it when a singer changes lyrics. I would feel the same way if Dave was to sing a Sammy song and Dave changed the lyrics.

PS - I dont want to see Dave sing any Sammy song's.

I would rather hear David Lee Roth sing any song, written by any artist, than to hear Sammy Hagar singing any song, written by any artist, period.

So I guess that covers "Jump" as well, doesn't it?

OK, my last post was mean, plus I had just gotten home from a shitty day at the orifice... I take it back...

I still would prefer not to hear any Sammy versions of Dave tunes.

Thank you, thank you very much...

Dave's version is the best. When you grow up with it, it's hard to imagine any other singer capturing that magic like they did in 1983. Having said that, I like what Sammy did with it. In particular I like the way he stretched out "and I knoooooow, baby just how you feel". I thought Sammy did Jump better than he did ATBL and a lot better than he did Panama.

Ed6150, the guy is allowed his opinion. Please refrain from calling someone stupid because they don't agree with you.
