My vote is old Van Halen
Samtards Flame away but the band lost so much edge with Sam but it was still cool to see Eddie jam

WOW.....here's a topic I've been just WAITING to discuss but never see it on the message boards! What a great topic: Dave vs. Sam! How original.

Dude, you are an idiot. Plain and simple. The Sam vs. Dave crap is the genesis of 95% of all topics on this board. Frankly, it's and old and tired topic.

Pack up your New Kids on the Block CD's and come back when you have a somewhat original thought.

Dude, no need to get upset. The topic has been done to death and some people are going to get upset over seeing it again for the 500th time.

VH isn't exactly giving us much to discuss these days, but the Dave vs. Sam argument just gets battles going and feeds the negative attitudes on the boards.

Look, I don't give a flying crap who the lead singer is - I just want what I assume you want: new Van Halen music. I'm just exhuasted that everything becomes a Sam vs. Dave issue. Van Halen is really two bands (I'll leave Gary out of it): Dave Van Halen and Sam Van Halen. People bitch about the music VH put out with Sam - DON'T BLAME SAM - ED WRITES THE MUSIC.

If you want to complain about Van Hagar, send a posse up to Howdy Doody Mountain and find the recluse with the striped guitar.

Nothing personal, just tired of the debate.

If they are two seperate bands, I would have to say my top 3 are.

1. Van Halen
2. Van Hagar
3. U2

BTW, I checked out your VH page Wolfman, very cool, just need to take down that Yankees link, nobody want to go there!

My favorite Dave vs. Sammy comment was by a DJ several years ago on a now defunct Classic Rock station in Chicago. The DJ just played a Van Halen song and she said that that song should end the debate of who was the real lead singer of Van Halen. She talked about how Diamond Dave sounded sexy when he sang and squealed on the song. The problem was that the song she just played was "Finish What Ya Started".

You've got to be kidding. Van Hagar is complete crap compared to classic VH. Van Hagar albums had a couple decent songs on each one and then complete cheese.

I can't believe this question is even being asked again

As always, the Dave era is always goiing to be the best! All the rest are just glorified cover bands.
