So. Hell freezes over, and Sam gets onstage with Dave one day. What would they sing?

Obviously it wouldnt be a Van Halen song, If it was a Hagar-era song, Roth would sulk in the corner with a bottle of JD 'I don't know this song. I'm not aware of it's existance!'. Sam could also pull out a "I won a Grammy' cap too.. *fistfight ensues*

If it was a Roth era song, Dave would get thrown out by all Sammys nonsensical yelling and talking:'Hey dufus! theres no 'yeh yeh yeh YEH' in 'panama'. Or shit about your fuckin hotel room. I should know! I wrote it! *fistfight ensues*

Sooooooo guess its gonna be something nuetral. Something soothing.

So I hearby nominate that song with Huey Lewis and Gwynneth Paltrow:

    Dave and Sam, cruising together!!!!!

Any other ideas??? You dont have to be a total fuckhead like I was either LOL

How about Honky Tonk Women by the Rolling Stones? They could each do a verse and then during the chorus, Dave could do the low vocal and Sammy could do some higher singing.

This is definitely a drunken type song that they could have a good time on without worrying too much about competing for the finish line.

Since everybody seems to think Dave had lyrics for Summer Nights, maybe they could both do that one. Sammy singing his version, Dave singing his version.

Heh, or resurrect Sammy's version of what turned into MWM or CGTSNM and do the same thing.

They could do Without You and dedicate it to Gary.

How about they start off with Dave singing 'You Really Got Me' and in the middle, break into 'Cabo Wabo' (ie. RHRN) where Sammy could sing?

Another tune would be 'Summertime Blues' where they could alternate singing.

There's a tune by Elvis Costello and Jimmy Cliff called "Seven Day Weekend". It's an obscure track from some Robin Williams movie... but despite that it's a rockin' party tune and I think Sam & Dave could do it great. A verse each then harmonising on the chorus...

Alternatively they could do "Soul Man" or "Hold on, I'm coming" by the original Sam & Dave...

    This is a cool topic!
    It'll all end in beers...

My 'real' pick would have to be 'Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers', they could trade off the lines pretty easy.

You know, it surprises me that a Sam and Dave duet hasn't been spliced together yet by some enterprising fan with the right tools. There's enough bootlegs of Sam and Dave singing the same songs that it should be possible.

Would anyone have any interest in making a contest out of it?

hehe. Cool idea Choose the right song and you could throw Gary in their too. Playing in different tunings for different singers will make it sound odd.......yeah, like it would sound normal anyway
