I'm going to put on my Nostrodamus hat here:

1) In the next three years, Eddie Van Halen will pass away from cancer related illness.

2) In between that time, there will be no new Van Halen recordings.

3) After Eddie dies, Alex will be heading for the poverty line, so will Michael Anthony.

4) Alex and Michael will reform Van Halen eith with David Lee Roth, or with Sammy Hagar. If Roth joins, he will use Brian Johnson as the guitarist. If Sammy joins, it will be Neil Schon.

Mark my words...

Who is Brian Johnson?

I really doubt they will reform "Van Halen" in any shape or form if Eddie dies.

IMO, the Van Halen name will not carry on with out Eddie or Alex. If you think Alex would have an Eddie-imitator for a guitarist, you're crazy.

Ever seen what an alcoholic will do for drinking money? Almost anything.

Alex has partied his way through the cash. The only thing stopping him from touring with Van Halen right now is Eddie.

Take him out of the equation, and the entire catalog is left in the hands of Alex Van Halen, the man who brought Ray Daniels into the picture.

We already know what damage Ray has done to Van Halen with Eddie alive.

Think of Ray and Alex sitting in front of the Van Halen catalog and it won't be too long before there's a "memorial tour" and Jacko buys the rights to the catalog.

It's more accurate to say he divorced his way throught the money. And I'm am sure that Ed's portion of the catalog would fall to Wolfie, held in trust by Val (not unlike Elvis left everything to Lisa Marie via Priscilla)

Re:[Mark my words...]
Dickhead! if you must waste everyone's time with your ill-conceived half-assed ideas just to start an argument, at least try to show some credibility by being accurate with your information. I believe the gentleman you are referring to is DLR's current guitarist - Brian YOUNG. VH sure would sound different with AC-DC's Brian Johnson strumming out Panama! I know we've had The Eagles "Hell Freezes Over", and and even bigger shock seeing DLR and Sammmy Hagar tour together, but Alex, Mike, Sammy/Dave/Gary playing/recording as Van Halen without Edward WILL NEVER HAPPEN! Mark MY words. (I can't believe I've sunk to the depths of letting you get to me.)Piss off and wait for your BROS/Wham reunion tour.

Hate to say it (and let me be perfectly clear
that I only wish Ed the best), but it seems
like we won't hear anything until Ed is gone.
Only then will we hear all the unreleased tracks
and whatever the hell else has been going on at
5150 lo these many years. Sad.

Hey guys, hold on a second!

You shouldn't trash this guy for his opinion.

I am just about ready to finish up law school and from what I have seen and read here, Ed's recent reorganizing of his life and related matters are exactly what people do before they pass on to the great gig in the sky. This is not to say that this is what is going on, but without any say so from anyone in the know, an outsider could observe these actions as indicative of "organizing ones affairs" prior to departure. I hope an pray that this is not the case, but you can't trash the guy just for posting his opinion.
I have often read the posts about all of Ed's recent transactions and have had to fight back the morbid thought in the back of my head that Ed is tending to matters which he previously had ignored. Protecting one's legacy is not out of the ordinary and for someone to opine such from the circumstances surrounding this matter is not all that far fetched (i.e. cancer, young son, shitty deals in the past, unprotected intellectual property.)
To be honest, the whole Frankenstein copyrighting thing caught me off guard. Why after so many years of inaction does this pattern of stripes suddenly become such a huge issue? I mean, how many years had this gone on without a word of opposition from the VH camp, and then all of a sudden everyone striping is suddenly shut down! Couple that with the silence, the illness, the fact that Joe Common puts VH in the "what ever happend to category," etc, etc and it is not such a far stretch to opine such. I mean really, how much of an impact at this point in time was the striping shops making??? At the most this was a niche market! But imagine the potential with a little newsworthy events from VH (i.e. induction in to the hall of fame, unreleased materials being officially releasd, and god forbid the passing of a seemingly forgotten guitar legend). Suddenly these few stripers could become big business with little or no opposition. Perhaps it is Ed's wishes that such a guitar not be made in his lifetime, but it could be one hell of a money maker in the future. (I.e. grant Peavey the rights as exclusive stripers of such guitars.) I just can't come up with a good reason someone would shit on what little bit of fan base is left.
Although I personally don't want to believe that such is happening, the chain of logic is not that far fetched.

Just my two cents
Ryan

After all these years I thought that Angus and Malcom Young were the guitar players for AC/DC.

This guy can have an opinion, but its very fucking morbid though.

While Famac is indeed entitled to his opinion (and that's exactly what this forum is for), it is still a disturbing speculation. Also, I think it's highly unlikely. Why would Eddie post his message about "getting back to the music and fun" if indeed he was terminally ill. He certainly wouldn't broadcast to his fans that he has a clean bill of health if that wasn't the case. What purpose would that serve? Also, I doubt Val would have been so public about their separation and so "matter of fact" about the reasons she left.

Eddymon, I have never posted directly to you, but I understand your response. I sincerely believe that Eddie will emerge in some form or fashion but on his own timetable. Keep the faith!!!

I believe the Brian he is talking about is the dude from the Punks who toured with Dave this year.

It is his opinion.

A stupid ass full of bullshit opinion that should not waste Brett's bandwidth.

But none the less, an opinion.
