If the Dave and VH thing doesn’t work out (which personally I think it will for at least one album and tour) and they re-hired our old friend Sammy and Dave went off & reunited the EEAS band.............

What would draw more fans, a Van Hagar reunion or a EEAS reunion?????

Most likely VH but Vai is a bigger name now than he was in ’86. Plus I could see all the pissed off Dave die-hards & other curious folks going to see Dave. On the other hand Van Hagar would probably win back most of their fan base that they might’ve lost after the Sam split.

What do you think???

It would be Van Halen with Sam, but hopefully it won't come to that.

That would be great! We get to see Dave with a EEAS gig, and VH with Sam!

It would be like 86 all over again!

That's a really tough question and I shudder to think about that actually happening.( *preying: Please God let David Lee Roth be back in Van Halen , I don't want Sammy Hagar Please?)

I'm afraid to say that Van Halen with Hagar would be a bigger draw but the fact of the matter is - neither one of them are anything compared to DLR being back in Van Halen.

THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR DAVID LEE ROTH BEING BACK IN VAN HALEN... AT ALL!

Lissen,
As I've said... DLR with VH = masterpiece. A classical culmination of combined craziness. Surefire hits and arena sell outs upwards of 40,000 people. BUT... like I say, I'm an EVH purist, and I think him singing, as he did on his latest effort, would be better than a VanHagar reunion, because with anyone other than DLR or EVH singing, it just won't be worth seeing or hearing.<-period
So, in conclusion, EEAS reuinion = golden , VH reunion with Stinky Pubehead = a campy version of what the fans really want. Will they see it? Probably. Will they like it? No. The masses want "Runnin' with the Devil", "Jump", and "Hot for Teacher"... these are the glue that hold together the foundation of the house that Ed and Dave built in the 70's.

I think VH with Sammy would be bigger. Besides the diehards, I don't think the public would go for an EEAS reunion more than a SH/VH reunion.

No offense to Dave, but he's not a draw anymore without Van Halen (or Van Halen material ). I think he'd sell better than he does now if he had Vai and Sheehan behind him, but not substantially more. I think VH could have done another tour with Gary and it would have sold better than Dave being back with the EEAS Band.

So therefore, Sammy VH would outsell Dave and the EEAS Band quite easily I think.

EEAS? I could care-freaking-less, Dave might as well just tour with his current cover project if that's the alternative. I have no desire to see Steve Vai, Billy Sheehan, and Gregg Bisonnette tour with Dave. Major *YAWN*. If you don't think VH with Sam would outsell Dave and EEAS, you are seriously high. Let's get real please.

You beat me to it, Brett. This is not even close. Godzilla Vs Bambi here! An EEAS reunion will not sell much more or attract more people then the DLR Band. The EEAS could open up for Van Halen with Gary at the throne.

I think alot of people are underestimating a VH/Sam reunion. If they put out a good album-which we all know they are capable of the supporting tour would be HUGE. Maybe not as big as a nostalgia tour with DAve but it would still be huge.
A EEAS reunion? I might go. I like Vai and Sheehan, but if Dave does that stupid Jack Daniels masturbation thing and uses the line "Your so sweet, I bet you shit sugar", I'm outta there.

still trying to figure out how you guys come up with

Dave/vh album tour--nostalgia

sam/vh album tour--not

Well, I'm not going to say "who I think will be bigger" until I hear what each project has to offer
who knows at this point???? but I don't think the EEAS lineup would have a cheesy piano ballad on it. I'll take a remade song like "I'm Easy" with horns and fun than some trippin' thru the fields ballad bs.

who would make the better video??
who would play the most "Classic HALEN"??

?????????

or is it
...?

when your friends come to YOU for "Van Halen advice" what will you tell them?
what did you tell them in 86?

and don't tell me when you saw Steve Via in the "Yankeerose" video for the first time you didn't go "gulp!"
as in--->oh shit! dave got Satan !!

first time around-----I was in highshcool
the smoker/doper/partying hoods listened to EEAS

and the tucked in button down and khakky pants kids listened to Van Hagar.----and I'm NOT making that up

at least in my home town that's how it wuz.

by the time I got to about halfway thru college--both Van Hagar and Dave were suckin' IMO--i was listening to Jane's Addiction, Miles Davis,Phish and a shitload of other stuff that I was turned onto once I got around some more cultured people

on a "Cool Factor"(or as I say 'Hain' Factor)
I rank it like this

1-Van HALEN
2-EEAS
3-Van Hagar

Gosh, I might go to 2 concerts of my choice in the same year ? !

No way would either one be my top Choice.

Dave should be the singer for Van Halen.

Sammy should do his own thing as the Red Rocker.

Not only is it not 1984, its not 1989, or 1995 either. The time is now Van Halen.

I would surely go see both as a fan.

Commercially speaking, nobody will give a shit about Dave unless he is in VH. Just check his record sales for proof. I don't know very many people that can name a band member in any of Dave's bands either. On the other hand, the music biz knows all about Sammy, Eddie, Mike, and Al. Bottom line, VH can't lose with either Hagar or Roth but Roth loses on his own again without VH.

Yeah I'm with the majority here. VH with Sam would outsell EEAS by a lot. I think a new albums with Van Hagar would out sell a new Van Halen with Dave album, but VH with Dave would sell more on tour.
I am awesome
