Hey, you know, being a huge George Harrison fan, I remember how I felt when I heard George for the last couple of years make an occasional comment about a new album (he hasn't done a real George Harrison album since 1987's CLOUD NINE). He said the cancer was pretty much over and he would eventually put out an album and had tons of songs written.

Now...I felt kind of weird, because he would say that and then be silent for months and there would be tons of cancer rumors. What if Mikey didn't really say those things at the convention? George simply told fans almost nothing except for his promotional tour for the remastered ALL THINGS MUST PASS last winter/spring. What if the band are silent because Eddie's cancer issues are really serious and they're just avoiding telling us? George even assured fans that he's not dying just a few months ago in a statement with his wife.

I hope to God that's not what's going on, and I really don't believe it is. But this silence sure feels the same as that silence.

Lemme just say that I've been a Beatles fan as long as I can remember (er...1977?). John Lennon's death made me cry and George Harrison's death was beyond upsetting. If I lose another hero soon (albeit one I'm not happy with professionally, but who cares?), that'll just be horrible! Not only do I want the band to speak because I want to hear new music or a reunion with Dave, but I also want to know what's going on because the guy had cancer!

Hey, Eddymon, do we know yet where and when that picture was taken? It's amazing!

    Jeff Porcaro Benefit - 12/04/92
    Universal Amphitheater
    Universal City, CA

Hosted by Porcaro's former band Toto, the Jeff Porcaro Tribute featured among others, Edward on guitar, Simon Phillips on drums, Steve Lukather on guitar and vocal performances by George Harrison, Don Henley and David Crosby.
The benefit was held to honor the recently deceased Porcaro and to help raise money for his family to assist in paying his medical and funeral costs. The show featured many lengthy jams as this all-star cast pulled out all the stops and just enjoyed playing music in the drummer's honor.

    Set List:

    Fire (4:15)
    Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love (4:03)
    Hold the Line (15:12)
With A Little Help From My Friends (10:00)

I assume that's where that shot is from. From Eddie's appearance in the picture, it certainly is from around the FUCK era, and that's the only show I've ever heard of EVH and GH doing together.

Now I feel bad for ever having being critical of the band. You're right, Rikk, I wish the band would make a statement about whether there is a band AND about Ed's health.

WOW !! No doubt guys, seems a little too similar for me to feel comfortable about Ed's health. I agree, he needs to come out and re-assure us that it is not his health that is holding up any new music or appearances.

Same with Alex, show yourself, let us know all is okay with you guys !

Yup. If they just had a press release of some sort that Ed is cured...even if they just truly announced (and not in some Golf Magazine) that they are still very much alive and ready to go, but nothing is going yet, I'd be happy.

The silence really bothers me after what happened to Mr. Harrison.

Geez, 50% of The Beatles are dead.

You know, I hate to sound insensitive, but Eddie being sick is one hell of a bogus way for the band to cover their tracks while doing jack.

quote:
Razor: How did you hear about Eddie's cancer?

SH: Oh, I had known about that for years. They've just been keeping it under wraps because they didn't want to make any public statements. He's OK. It's a bummer for anybody to have anything like that, but it's not like he's at risk of dying any minute. He's not on his deathbed.

I was feeling pretty positive about Edward and this whole cancer thing, believing that like he had said, it was pretty much over with, but in light of George Harrison's death and reading about how it started in his throat got me all worried about Ed again. When I first heard about Ed having cancer, I thought it was a bad place because once it gets in the lymph nodes, it can go anywhere and gets much serious. I pray to God this isn't the case and I'll be an old lady listening to old man Edward instead of remembering a wonderful guy and great musician who left us much too early just like George.
    Could this be magic?

George's death is still unimaginable to me. When his new album comes out and I'll be listening to it on my stereo, I'll feel like I'm still waiting for the next one. I can't believe he's gone.

God, all my heroes are dying.

And even though the idea of a 'Beatle' being 60 is unimaginable, I found myself thinking "dammit!! He didnt even live to be 60!! what a ripoff!!!!"

Reminder: George was ***27*** when the Beatles BROKE UP!!!!!

    Incredible....
