This may have been discussed before but I missed it.

Why would Dave be doing 98% Van Halen songs on his little tour this summer if he were planning on doing another DLR Band OR EEAS Band album/tour?

Don't you think that he would want to play some of his own solo material and do several VH songs?

Could this be the peciled in set list for the next VH tour and he is just working his pipes for it while Al & Ed are recuperating?

Its just strange that he isn't doing any solo stuff except Yankee Rose or Tobacco Road. Not even Slam Dunk that he recorded with the DLR Band.

    His "try-out" allready happend.

Maybe they made the late spring/early summer statements about working together just to get us all going and then the rumors about Ed's health came back to the forfront and Eddie had to say something to his fans.
Could they have everything done (album that is) and are waiting until the fall for the big surprise just when it all looks hopeless?

    NO

He knows what time it is!

Just as long as the 3rd song is 'Dirty Movies'

Its just strange that he isn't doing any solo stuff except Yankee Rose or Tobacco Road. Not even Slam Dunk that he recorded with the DLR Band.

I don't like Slam Dunk... IMO Little Texas is much better.

    His "try-out" allready happend.

    this is his vacation!

Why shouldn't he play those songs? They are his songs too. The very best work of his career! I am glad he isn't wasting alot of time on his solo stuff; some of it is good, but as a whole even the best of it doesn't stand up to his work with Van Halen (duh!). He's giving the people (most- 1/4 anyway) of what they want!

Sure Dave can, and should, play Van Halen songs on his own. My problem lies with the number of them, because I don't like to see an artist prop themselves up on one area of their career.

Everyone falls back on the "he's giving the fans what they want" theory, which is great, but you have to challenge an audience. People are lazy, and will always go the easy way; I'd rather see Dave keep pushing the audience (and himself) by integrating solo material, and not just the same old Yankee Rose, Tobacco Road stuff.

If you want to take the "giving the fans what they want" theory to the next step, if Dave doesn't get back in Van Halen, do you want him to tour, year after year, relying 95% on the VH tunes? I don't, and he's got to start playing the solo tunes at some point if he's to break out of the VH set list he's been playing for the last two tours.

All Dave is doing is capitalizing on public sympathy to make a buck. He knows his solo stuff is not good enough to tour on exclusively, and that basically nobody is interested in it anyway. Which of his royalty cheques do you think are bigger, his work with VH, or his own? Dave is EXACTLY what all the Daveheads out there accused VHIII of being, JUST ANOTHER VH COVER BAND, and to be a VH cover band, or VH themselves you have to play right from VHI up to VHIII.

Dave is a chump. Dave IS the grave!
