I am a fairly new fanatic so this may have been brought up already but....

Who would you like to see open for VH on their next tour...regardless of who's the new frontman.

Personally, I'd like to see some young, ass kicking band that isn't that well known do the honors. I saw Alice in Chains open for them at the Meadowlands back before they were popular and they fucking rocked!

    Any thoughts?

I just realized that my title for this thread may be mis-leading. Some might think I had some new "inside information" on a new tour. I am sad to say that is not the case. I was just curious what the rest of you thought about an opening act.

I apologize if the title mis-lead any of you...that is not my intention. Like I said, I'm new at this!

I say Mike Keneally and Beer for Dolphins. Keneally is a former Zappa stunt guitarist and Steve Vai sideman. His own band is incredible and would compliment VH. Definitely two different style of music, but not so different as to turn people off. http://www.keneally.com

    I would become physically sick.

I'd say Buckcherry or maybe Kid Rock. They're kickass bands. I'm sure they'd jump on this opportunity. Something that's "hip" these days, to get the younger generation into it. Skid Row might be a good opener for either of these two bands too.

Well, your comment "regardless of who the lead singer is" makes it interesting.

I wouldn't care who it was if DLR was singing, if he wasn't, I wouldn't go unless the Stone Temple Pilots or someone really good opened.

I find skid row to be too much of a hair band. I don't want to equate vh to seeing "poison and slaughter" together.

I don't really think any group today matches Van Halen's genre very well, so I wouldn't have the slightest clue who would open.

I agree with EDHEAD316. Creed would be awesome. The Clarks would be cool too. They are a local band from the Pittsburgh area.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd toured with them on the 3 tour. That was a hell of a concert for any guitar player to see. Kenny Wayne is probably the best young guitarist to come along since Eddie. He is more along the same lines of Stevie Ray Vaughn than Eddie, but he is awesome. He was one of the few opening acts that I would have paid to see by himself. I say go with him again, unless he is already touring.

Please noooooo Not Creed or Godsmack or Kid rock !!!!
In my opinion There is not even ONE GOOD rock band out there these days. I respect anyone that is able to get off there ass and do something with their lives. I respect the effort but the end result with bands like Creed and Godsmack is a pretty poor attempt at Rock music. That singer in creed does nothing but try and sound like Eddie Vedder and Godsmack tries to sound just like that other band mentioned a few posts above.
Real Rock music is dead right now but considering there is only a handful of truly great Rock bands through out history I guess its not surprising that we have to settle for the current batch of one album wonders.
