Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the b-sides of singles usually either?
    1. live tracks
    2. album tracks
    3. un-used songs
    4. re-mixes of the single itself

I wonder what VH will use as the b-side track (or tracks) for their first single?

Being that that version of the band hasn't played live in 16 years, it'd be huge if they put live tracks on there.

Since they've been so secretive, I can't see them putting even more tracks on there that are going to be on the album.

Van Halen have rarely released un-used songs in their career, hard to see them starting now.

    I guess re-mixes are a possibility.

Any other possibilities I'm missing? What do you think will be the b-sides?

That would be huge G-man! That's a good idea man, you should be their singles consultant or whatever you call it.

I have been waiting for my first post- so here goes. I have been a fan of the mighty VH for almost twenty years-and all this time I have never heard them live with Dave-I think it would be incredible if the b side to the long awaited single was a live version of a classic song with Dave. Maybe Panama..Hot For Teacher..there are so many.

First off, welcome to the site I'll Wait till 2001.

If they were to release some live tracks from a Dave era concert, would that indicate that there's a chance of them releasing an entire live concert from the Dave era? Personally, I think there's a pretty good chance they'll release a live album from the 78-84 era (probably from 1981) if the reunion holds together. Releasing live tracks as b-sides could indicate that they've cleaned up an entire old show for potential release.

This probably won't happen. VH isn't going to put out old live stuff until after the first reunion tour. Why? Quite simple. Let's face it, this isn't going to be 1982 all over again. Though it will be fun after all this time for the fans who saw the Dave era and a blast for those of us who missed them as well, there is no way they are going to be quite as good as their former selves.

In person, it won't matter. But on video, seeing a bunch of middle-aged men jumping around isn't going to look good. What they'll probably do is release a compilation of old stuff along with stuff recorded on the new tour after the new tour is completed. They are smart enough not to make themselves look bad right as they return to the road. After the hype of the first tour is flowing, releasing old stuff will be ok.

Look for the B-sides to be old studio tracks, a re-done rarity (Angel Eyes, anyone?), or even other songs from the new album (don't be surprised if this does happen).

If they're not going to put another track from the album on the b-side, I would like to see maybe an unreleased studio song (Big Trouble, Put Out The Lights, or Eyes Of The Night), or maybe a live DLR-era song.

Not to burst any bubbles here, but they probably will not put any other song on the single as a b-side. Many bands do not do this now. In fact I've seen a few remastered singles from 84 (Jump, and I think Panama- was a few months ago) in a record store in the mall. They had no other song on the cd. I don't believe Sammy's new singles have any other songs on them either.

Of course, let's hope they DO put something on there!

I'm positively sure that this has been discussed before but I am relatively new here and was just wondering if anybody managed to get their hands on any and/or all of these?
