Okay okay...I couldn`t think of what to name this thread. It`s the best I could do

Because I am new to DLR`s solo career, and i`m only 19, I often made fun of solo-DLR without listening to all the tracks. Now, even though after careful listening, I think that a lot of solo DLR is pretty silly, I`ll agree that when he succeeded..he made some COOL SHIZ !!!

The point i`m trying to make, is that for the first time I listenend to `Sensible Shoes`the other day for the first time...IT BLEW MY MIND !!! His voice sounds so fucking cool...he has so much swagger. I get the feeling that ALAE isn`t one of DLR`s solo favorites around here, but I really really realllllyyyyyyy hope that VH reunion album has a song along the lines of `Sensible Shoes` and `Finish What Ya Started` to let Dave do his thang !

Sensible Shoes is a very cool tune. You have to understand DLR to appreciate his stuff. Hes not gonna come out at ya and say 1 + 1=2.
He makes you think. to quote him...

"its philosophy disguised as a bad joke."
Give a listen to all of his solo stuff with an open ear. some suggestions:

    Eat em and Smile:
    Ladies Night in Buffalo
Shyboy (I know its a cover but its still cool)
    Yankee Rose (always kicks ass)
That's Life (cover- but that was made for DLR)
    tobacco road
    Elephant Gun

    Skyscraper:
    Hina
    Damn Good
    Knucklebones

    A Little aint enough:
Sensible shoes ( you've already discovered)
    Tell the Truth
    It's Showtime!
    A 'Lil aint Enough

    Your Filthy Little Mouth:
    She's my machine
    Land's Edge

    DLRBand:
Loose the Dress (keep the shoes)
    Going Places
    Little Texas
    King of the Hill
    Relentless
    WaWaZatt
    Black Sand

These are just a few. DLR rules. Give him another listen.

Hey, thanks a lot blueyedmurder, I will give all those tracks a listen..

I'm kinda thinking of just going out and buying DLR's greatest hits and give it a whirl.

you're right though, DLR does rule..it's just, I find a lot of his solo work annoys me cause of the music. Because the music with VH was so top notch, that I always find myself comparing it to VH...I usually enjoy DLR more when I don't compare him to VH.

    bizzatch,
Yea, Daves Best of, is a great place to start. Personally I think Skyscraper was Dave at his best as far as the solo stuff goes, but the greatest thing about Daves solo career was also his undoing. DIVERSITY!! Dave spit in the face of mainstream music. It costs him gazillions of $$$$$, but won him the hearts of all us little folks!!
