Alright...I am prepared to be pilloried for saying it...I want Cherone back! I want to hear the follow up to 3! The guy was great in concert and seemed to love the gig...I want VH to keep exploring new stuff and stay interesting...I thought Cherone was great...Call Gary Cherone and get him back!

    No, I'm not kidding...

The followup would be an interesting listen.

However, Gary's got Extr...uhhh...Tribe of Judah now - he's happy where he is.

Honestly, I don't know if I would want to have Gary back in a situation where Gary can't be Gary. That was a MAJOR problem with VH3.

You know what, in the last couple of days I've listened to III Sides and Waiting For The Punchline by Extreme, and I've been blown away. I always had Pornograffiti, and always loved it, but having given the next two a try I've realized that III Sides in particular is just a stunning album, as good or better than several of the Van Halen albums (yeah, I DID just say that!!! ). Gary is a great lyricist, and given music that's in his range, he's an awesome talent.

I'm a big fan of VH III, it just sounds like Gary is trying to hard and he's out of his range in a lot of places. But material wise, it's a great album.

    I agree, bring Gary back.

    six pack good, Gary bad

edit..- Do you realize how deep that sentiment is? That pretty much sizes up the entire history between VH1 and 3. Damn, thats heavy man.

Seenbad, comes correct with the depth!

And the only phone call VH should make to Gary should be to wish him good luck with Tribe Of Judah...

III had a few moments, but they were very few and very far between. Yes, the follow up was "said" to be great.

Well, leading up to the release of III, the same was said of that album, too.

Mr. Cochran nearly filed a suit, claiming "Consumer Fraud." I talked him out of it, though, luckily for VH.

I don't drink, and I like Gary, so that's backwards to me. But all's fair in love, war, and Van Halen.

So in essence, if we really wanted to make it backwards, you started listening to vh with gary first, then had to drink a six pack to get over it, and discovered real van halen on your journey backwards through a sobering time. Cool man.

Sorry, I have to be the WORST at getting off topic.

Real Van Halen! I love that term. Beautifully irrelevant no matter what your definition is.

Granted its all VH. I tend to omit the last album as if it didnt really count. Dave and Sammy are defining of a vh frontman in my eyes. Gary never really had the opportunity to mold into a role like that (thank god), and for good reason I believe. Fans didnt see a fit, I dont think the band saw a fit, and ultimetaly, Gary didnt see it either. But it made for a hell of a tour.

But I'm not getting into this.

Gary... oh lord, has it come to this!?

I listened to 3 today, just to remind myself of how much I dislike it as a Van Halen album. Not just any album, but a Van Halen album. Compared to its brothers, it's the runt of the litter.

I love TWILY, but that's it. The rest of that was just a steaming pile of dung. I remember being so excited to hear 3. The band had come off Balance, which was one of their best, and had great tunes with Sammy and Dave in between. I'd heard Without You on the radio, and was rather disappointed. But it was just a single, right?

I popped into Walmart the day it went on sale. Maybe one or two in the morning after getting off work, so I was amongst the first to get it. Neworld was interesting. Things went downhill from there. I was crushed. Sitting in the car on the way home, thinking 'they got rid of Dave for this shit?!' It wasn't very good. It really sucked.

I don't want to see Gary back. It didn't work. Simple as that.

Let'em bring back Gary, Sam, and Dave for a good-bye album. 4 new tracks from each. Until then, let Gary do what Gary does.
