Listen to Marching For Mars - a great album.

When the Sam and Dave Tour was announced I decided to get reaquainted with Sammy and what he's done musically since his boot from VH.

Personally I was never that that impressed with the pre Van Hagar Sammy stuff. But the music he's written since Balance is great. Mas Tequila and Ten 13 are good albums but pick-up Marching to Mars - an unbelievable album that should of been a VH album!

Hagar has done his best stuff since he left VH in my opinion.IMHO 1013 is the best album of his career-solo,Montrose or VH.

I find myself listening to 1013 and WTM now and then. I still like Standing Hampton the most out of the entire catalog. Some of those songs on WTM should have been VH recordings. Sammy's song writing ability is improving and his voice is very strong. I still think it would be a nice time for him to get back with the brothers. It could be something special. As far as Mas Tequila goes I think it is his worst release by far.

Marching To Mars is too mellow for me, it has some good songs on it though, Little White Lie is great.

Red Voodoo is weak, it sounds like it was very rushed! Returning Of The Wish is a cool song though.

Ten 13 is awesome!!!!! You can tell
that a lot of time went into that album, unlike Red Voodoo. I can listen to Ten 13 all the way through! My only complaint about Ten 13 is that the guitar solo's are lacking, especially compared to VH.

Sammy's albums keep getting better and better since VH. My favorite solo album is also 10-13. There really isn't a bad song on it and it was set up very well with the order of the songs. To bad music is shit right now and Sammy could only get airtime on the radio with "Serious JuJu". It is a good song but not even close to being the best on the album. It also sucks for Sammy that the entire album was on Napster before it came out. If not for that I'm sure it would have sold better. If this would have been a Van Hagar release it would have shot straight to #1.

Ten 13 is an excellent Sammy album, MTM is also great but I give 13 the edge. Red Voodoo is pretty much a party album and seemed rushed because they were anxious to get back on the road. I can't wait to hear the new album due out next fall.

I really liked Sammy's three post VH albums, but I think that his finest work was on the Geffen years. I think that "Standing Hampton," "Three Lock Box, and "VOA" are Sammy's three finest solo albums. The album with HSAS "Through the Fire" is also excellent and I highly recommend it. Out of Sammy's albums with Capital Records, I think that "Danger Zone" is his best work, followed by "Musical Chairs." With Montrose, the self-titled debut is a classic, but I think that the second album "Paper Money" is even better. Most people only mention Montrose's debut and tend to overlook the followup.

Sammy after vh is much better to me and rate all three releases pretty much on a par with his VH stuff.Unboxed ok but not great.Working with Eddie made him a much better singer and if they got together again would be amazing if all is well [health wise] in the VH camp although highly unlikely as they havent contacted each other since the split which i think dissapoints Sammy

Sammy is getting better and better.
TEN13 is his best album so far, but I think there will be a better one in the future.

Sammy and the Waborita's are like a unity that is getting tighter and tighter. They let him do some other musical stuff (Planet US etc.) without ANY hard feelings. It wasn't that easy when he was fronting VH. Sam feels happy and what more does he need to get creative?

The reunion with VH would be successful (IMO) if VH allows Sammy to do some solo stuff whenever he needs it.

See ya in Cabo!
