I am listening to Van Halen 3 at this moment, and I wonder to myself why did everyone hate Gary so much? Exclude FORD as he is a radical freak obviousy suffering from some sort of anxiety disorder, but why did the public reject Gary??? This was a good CD, the live shows were amazing...what was the problem? Explain it in detail please.

This is really all gonna be a matter of opinion I think so I'll move it to that forum, for further 'dead horse flogging' shenanigans!

He failed because he had no business in VH!
The guy is talented in his genre, but not rock n roll. He failed because he is not Sammy Hagar. Everything they do will fail until they get Sammy Hagar back in the band.

I've been listening to the older VH tunes he sung on the III tour and they all kick ass, and the shows were amazing! He did a hell of a job, I doubt if anyone could of came in and done any better. He wasn't given much of a chance, and I think if they would of had TWILY and more songs like that on the album it would of done better.

Yes the 3 tour was one of the best I have seen from VH. I am not sure if it was hearing all the old tunes live finally or what, but Gary sang well and the band was tight.

VH3 failed because the fans were completely pissed at them for booting Sammy and Dave again in a 3 month span.

Here's what I think was wrong:

    1. The above post about people being mad
about Dave and Sam being out is true.

    2. Even though he was good live, he just wasn't quite VH material.

    3. The album's production sucked.

    4. Cheesy lyrics on most of the songs.

    5. Josephina replacing TWILY

    6. The album was just not VH-type music.

    Here is why Gary failed.

    1) All of the fans of Sammy in VH were angry that Sammy was no longer fronting the band. And many of them were not willing to easily accept another singer

    2) All of the fans of Dave in VH were angry that Dave was no longer fronting the band, and them having him back in the band briefly made things worse. They also were not going to accept another singer in the band.

    3) The production on Van Halen 3 was unbelievably bad!

    4) Gary did not sing well in Van Halen compared to how he had sung in Extreme. Why? I have no idea!

    5) Van Halen 3 was not as good as Van Halen's previous albums.

From what I remember, Gary had had throat surgery and his voice wasn't back to form yet (whatever form that would be, since I've never really listened to Extreme).

Also, Eddie asked him to sing out of his range, supposedly.

So, when you combine singing out of range, shit album production, and coming off throat surgery ... Bad things were bound to happen.

    (Did I mention lyrics...? )

Exactly, TWILY was such a groovin' song, didn't you post on my thread in ablums and songs in a vs. thread about TEILY? lol ... I don't remember but your wisdom of TWILY and even for bringin' it up gives you a "props" in Eyeses eyes.

    Word

The reasoning for that song *I* think for not making 3 was the ever so slight hearing part where Ed loses his tuning "sort of" hence reasoning for it not making the cut. These things you can tell sometimes and DIF has my back *I* think if he can remeber that post he said about it sounding out of tune.

Now for the reasoning for GC not making it with VH and the only reason?

    Warner Brothers

Now for the reasoning behing my opinion in GC not making VH?

VH reflected on GC's incapability to sell records(he is like this with extreme too), he wasn't the type of songwriter he was thought to be. Look at 3? The songs were weak ass and this also counts for production I know but? GC didn't lack the skills VH is accustomed to, I think?

Aside from the cheesy chorus on a few tunes(which Hagar was guilty of also) Gary is a very talented songwriter. If Eddie and Gary had collaborated on an album without the VH name, 500,000 albums would have been quite a success.....it just didn't cut it as Van Halen material.

    You fucking gutless little pussy.

Talk shit about me Zadian/COCK/StrangeGAY/BEZEK KNOWS JACK SHIT /and what ever other names you're using.

The shit you are spreading on all these boards would justify me either suing you or killing you. Keep it up dipfuck and I guarantee you that one or the other will happen. And here's a hint..... I really don't care for lawyers and courts that much

By the way, Gary failed because HE'S A BROADWAY BALLET DANCER, not a rock singer and because there is ONE singer for Van HALEN.

Is that really supposed to scare me FORD, your probably some dweeb sittin' in mommy and daddy's basement. If you want my address email me prick.

As for Gary's failure it certainly is not for lack of talent, but for for people such as yourself who live in the past and can't get out of it.

You were a freak on the VH3 board and it has continued on after that shut down because of assholes like you that wouldn't let people voice their opinion that didn't agree with your own.

Suck on this one, if it wasn't for Sammy Van Halen would have died with all the other hair bands in the 80's, THAT IS FACT!. DLR back will be nothing more than a minor blip from the past, they need Sammy if they want any kind of success again in the outside world of the DLR wannabee's.

I suggest this topic be closed, ban me if you want, but I didn't make the threats here. Obviously the truth hurts.

Okay, that's five minutes in the penalty box on Zadian for hooking and five minutes for FORD for high sticking.

Seriously though, something can be said along the lines of what Zadian said. No one here is expecting anyone to like 3 because they do or because VH made it. But that doesn't mean there has to be arguements and squabbling over it. It's been done to death, and the end result is, well, some of us still like it, some of us still don't.

Let's all play nice in here or we'll have to call the game on account of rain
