Maybe it's just me but ever since I've laid eyes on Kid Rock's whole trip, I can't help but think he's ripping off The Great One, Diamond David Lee Roth. And he does'nt even acknowledge it. I mean, come on. Look at all the similiar shit he does that Dave was doing back in the early 80's, The Midgets, the booze on stage(only Kid slams 40ozs., Dave whole bottles of Jack!) The clothes, the sun glasses, the whole 9. Dave is an original! The sad part; Kid Rock can't sing, bet he don't even play that guitar he's strummin in all his vidoes, and he's a white rapper( can't stand that shit!) Sad part #2, when all the younger fans see Diamond Dave on Tour and Video WITH VAN HALEN!, thier gonna say " he's ripping Kid Rock Off!", Because they were'nt around to see the original Master of Ceremonies, Diamond David Lee Roth! I'd like these younger fans to see Diamond Dave Jump 10 feet off a drum riser and scissor kick about 20 times and watch everybody shit themselves in disbelief. Dave And Van Halen Forever!

You made some good points lazyman. He does seem to rip off Dave. All Kid Rock does is rip off people. The difference is DLR is talented and Kid Rock is talentless IMO.
I'm moving this topic to opinions.

I've thought the same exact things. Kid Rock does play guitar though. He plays drums and bass too.

I`d just like to say, I agree with you guys, Kid Rock is a peice of crap, although he`s worked damn hard to get where he is, and he plays guitar, bass, drums, piano and is a very good DJ/scratcher...

But i`m telling you guys, if Van Halen wants to have the biggest tour of the next few decades, they do a stadium tour with Kid Rock.

He would fit right in with the original Van Halen.

I`d bet the tour would be something along the lines of `The Return of the original American Badass`

That would be fuckin monster tour, and give ass kicking early VH so much exposure to the 16-24 age group it could only benefit.

Of course Kid rock would open for them, but he has enough tunes to play a good hour, hour and a half...

    it`s a possibility

I think Kid Rock should go on tour with VH also...you always need another person to go get sandwiches, drinks and guitar strings. Come on! How and why would anyone want him around a VH show! The two year prediction was pretty close, but I think you will be hearing him say..."What pump are you at sir?".

    Handyman...how old are you

i`d say that was a lame post, I mean, i`m not saying i like kid rock, but if you want VH to be kings of the world again, you gotta compromise. I`m 19, and i know, based on my friends, and people i talk to between 18-22, that a VH tour, with a young group would kick ass. And the consensus is Kid Rock, cuz he`s the first rock guy since original VH to really live the party lifestyle, MONEY, BITCHES, CARS, SEX, DRUGS e.c.t. Until Kid Rock, it was only rappers who played up that lifestyle throughout the 90`s. Rock has become the geeks choice of music. That`s why I give Korn, Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock some credit. Even though a lot of you guys here hate them, you`re being hyppocrites, because they are doing EXACTLY what Van Halen did in 1978. They are reinventing rock and making it fun again, making it cool, and giving a whole new generation memories. If Van Halen got back w DLR, and toured with someone like this, it would give them a chance to be back on top of things in a new decade, and reach a whole new audience.

Anyway, VH could never tour with Kid Rock if they get any other singer. I can`t see `American Bad Ass` being followed up by Dreams and Can`t Stop Lovin`You..

However, if DLR comes back, breaks out a little unchained, runnin`with the devil, mean streets e.c.t, it would be a perfect compliment.

P.S. If VH toured with AC/DC they could call it `Stiff Upper Lip-Limp Lower function: Old fart tour 2001`

I love VH, but unless they give themselves a younger, hipper image like Aerosmith/Metallica a reunion w/ DLR will only bring great concert sales, not album sales.

29....you are right about the marketing of VH/Kid Rock...it would give them a broader audience. I just think he is a joke...I would rather see Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains or maybe a newer group like Three Doors Down. Or maybe just see them tour by themselves. Something with a little more musical substance than some punk rapper from the nearby trailer park.

    I know I know..

you`re right, Kid Rock is trash, but i think he`d have more appeal as a double bill.

Of Course if VH was just looking for a VERY solid opening act, i`d say STP would have to be my number one choice as well. They are a talented, solid rock group. Too bad they have so many battles with the drugs...

But yeah....STP is a good suggestion.

Van Halen always choses cool opening acts, they did Collective Soul, Kenny WAyne Shepperd, Creed, Alice In Chains, and here in Canada took a chance on Our Lady Peace...

Van Halen is good with opening acts if you ask me...I could see them going with 3 Doors Down type group for at least a few shows...

Nah, he's not the bastard son of Dave, he's the bastard son of Vanilla Ice. And about as worthy of discussing.

Kid Rock? Maybe.. But check this out:

Ever since I saw Dave Roth, I always thought he was ripping off Jim "Dandy" Mangrum of the 70's southern/hard rock band, "Black Oak Arkansas"

Many similarities, Jim Dandy / Diamond Dave, same style, same overt sexuality, same strutting, hard drinking image, same hair, even the clothing (up to a point). Dave is much more of a pretty boy and is more athletic (and a better singer) but I'd be willing to bet that Dave saw BOA back when he was a young lad..

If you don't believe me, go here: http://tor-pw1.netcom.ca/~rmacisaa/boa/index.html
