I just typed about 4 paragraphs and somehow got deleted!
    I'll try this again!
If you go to ASCAP page and do a search for Van Halen, you can get a list of songs. They were listed as performers to a song I haven't heard. I assume to be listed as a performer, you'd have to have the song on an album.
Here is the link scroll to the bottom: http://aSCAP.com/ace/search.cfm?sear...esttimeout=600

Hmmmm........ that's weird. It's the Yes song, "I've Seen All Good People". I didn't know VH covered this, even in the club days. Glenn?

"We get to the hotel, there's people partyin' in the parking lot, people gettin' down in the elevator, wow! I swear to God I had this one chick, this chick was poundin' on my door, she was kickin' and screamin' at my door 'til about 6.30 this morning. Finally, I just said, 'Fuck it!' and let her out of my room!" - David Lee Roth

This is interesting. I've never even heard of that song, so I've never heard of VH doing it.

Reading the list briefly, it's interesting to see Ultra Bass credited to Michael Anthony only.

And every song on 1984 (except Girl Gone Bad, which I don't see on the list) is credited to Dave, Al, and Edward but not Michael. Even I'll wait includes Michael McDonald but not Mikey. Primary is credited to Ed, Al and Gary, but does not include Mikey either.

This is a good topic, I'm going to send it to Main to give it some more exposure.

There's some weird unexplained stuff at the ASCAP site. I don't want to revisit the VH3 theory that happened in the rumor mill a while ago.....much. But check out the different publishers for different songs on VH3, and the 'contact for extra info number' which seems to be new, and the fact that WB are listed as performers for some of those songs.

Also the Roth-era stuff is published by Diamond Dave music as well as Van Halen music. Is that new? I don't have my VH albums to hand but has that changed from the original cds to the remasters?

Someone (VanEdge?) mentioned a while ago that EVH and DLR had renewed their publishing contracts the same day a few months ago. Probably for the remaster releases?

And yeah, I've never heard VH play that Yes song on any release (official or otherwise).

The Wild Life is a movie that Eddie did the music for. Donut City is the only full track on the soundtrack, and it sounds alot like Turn Me Loose by Loverboy. You can probably find it on Napster.

Is there any way to check the DATES as to WHEN Van Halen asked to use the Yes song?

    That would solve this quickly.

If it was from Dec 1999-Dec 2000, it will be on the new album or video.

    How do we check dates?

BTW, I might as well move this to the speculations forum. Seems to fit better over there. Please continue the discussion there.

Unfortunately, a Mr. C.Collins of ASCAP replied to me that he was unable to provide that information at this time, however, he said I should contact the record company for that type of information. So, I guess either they screwed up the song listing, they can't or won't say anything, or they really don't have a clue. But notice the title number on the right, pretty high number.
