Check out MelodicRock.com today they have an update regarding the proposed Super Group project that is to involve Sammy Hagar, Deen Castronovo, Neal Schon, Slash and "hopefully Michael Anthony.

the long and short of the update is that if Michael Anthony commits himself to this project than there will be no new VH in 2002.

I don't know how to post a link but you can read it for yourself at www.melodicrock.com

If Mike is really doing this, we could be a LONG way away from any new VH music.....

I would be surprised if Ed and Al would be happy about Mike hangin and playing music with Sammy again.

If we are that far away from VH music, I hope Mike does do this. It would be fun !!

Doesn't matter whether Mike does this or not - the next, only and last time we will ever (possibly) see Van Halen will be when (if) they are inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame!

I've finally gotten it through my thick skull that there is no Van Halen.

Everyone else would do themselves a big favor to convince themselves of the same.

    SUPERGROUP UPDATE!:
This is a little further information available about the proposed Super Group involving Sammy Hagar, Neal Schon, Deen Castronovo, Slash and hopefully Michael Anthony.
The project is set to start officially after this coming US summer. Sammy Hagar is about to announce summer tour dates, Neal Schon and Deen Castronovo have 2 months of Journey dates already booked and Slash is working with Izzy and Duff on a record.
Once these commitments are fulfilled, get ready! In the meantime, I hear there is some chance of the guys meeting to write and record one or two songs to start the publicity ball rolling. Don't expect any official announcements for this group for a little while yet!

hmmmmmm I remember when I was at Woodstock in 1994 Slash and Neil jammed with Paul Rodgers on stage....so it's possible...

So maybe Mike was telling FULLBUGAZ the truth about doing music with Sammy, maybe not a solo album, but maybe a supergroup or just a tour of some kind.

With that said, maybe what he told Rols about Dave is true also.

Until they yank the rug out from under my feet, I still think it can happen.

Sammy must be the hardest working performer in rock. It is clear the Eddie was lying when he questioned Sam's work ethic. 3 albums, tours, products, bar all since being canned. Amazing how a 54 year old is still trying to put together a great band with a great sound.

I'm sure Hagar feels the clock ticking. He may have enough time to get one or two albums out with this lineup and leave a mark. I doubt that Mikey, who isn't getting any younger, wants to sit around for Eddie and Alex. I'm sure Sammy and Eddie- Alex- Mike can perform in some capacity into their 60's but it would be much different. I know the VH boys are a little younger but even if they got Dave back today it would be summer 2003 before a tour was in place. IF (big if) they got their shit together they may be able to do 3 more cds before the end but that isn't going to happen. I remember going to see The Who in 88/89? and hearing about how they were in the 50's and couldn't do it much longer and they really haven't done much since. A few other short tours but nothing ground breaking (are they in the studio?). If HSAS_C is able to get rock back on rock station it would be ground breaking.

BTW- someone needs to tell Dave he looks like a freakin idiot on his web site. Talk about someone with no ability to adapt to changes in times. PSSST Dave... Your not in your 20's anymore and it isn't 1984 anymore... grow the *uck up. Try and do something relavent. I guess when you haven't done anything worth a crap in 15 years you just don't know what to do.

From what I've seen here- Mike doesn't really have anything to do with VH other than as a hired hand and could be let go at anytime. If he has any smarts he will abandon ship and take a chance on putting out an album or two with some great performers with the chance for one more big tour.

There's no Van Halen, there's no Black Crowes, there's not much in the way of good old foot stomping, ass kicking rock-n-roll anymore period. It appears that the musicians are as disheartened by the state of music as the fans are too.
    Could this be magic?

Does anybody else think that they're REALLY starting to stretch the term 'super group' a little too far??

Keep in mind that Eddie Van Halen was happy to continue Van Halen without David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar. Who's to say EVH wouldn't be happy to continue the band without Mikey!

This truly would be an amazing lineup.

Not Van Halen, but then again, Van Halen hasn't been Van Halen in such a long time that I think I've forgotten what that means.

Well, if a virtual bunch of nobodys can call themselves the "Classic Rock All-Stars", then I guess a group with Hagar and Schon can be considered a "super group".

Heres what I know about this and then my opinion on this.

    First what I have learned:

Mike won't be a part of this, "he is still a member of Van Halen, and Van Halen plans to be busy this spring and beyond." this was supposably a very recent quote from Gary Cherone.

    Now for my opinion:

If Rols and FullbugsAZ were telling the truth, then the timeline doesn't mesh.
MA: "we will be hitting the road this spring, Dave will be singing this time."

Mike wouldn't do that to Eddie and Alex. Even though he is still friends with Sammy, he wouldn't make an album and tour with Sammy again unless he were back in the band. It would be like going out and having sex with your ex-wife while your current wife is at home with the kids.
We might see a not so "super group" late this year, but lets face it. Its not Van Halen, nor Journey nor Guns-n-Roses. Its just a collection of good musicians.

I bet Mike's name is floating out there in rumor land because of the lack of Van Halen news and the fact that Mike has been the most public member in the past 2+ years. I'm sure he is itching to play, but he has Van Halen music in his blood and thats where his loyalties are.
'Old Van Halen, when I was in it-classic Van Halen-makes you wanna drink, dance and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship.' - David Lee Roth.

This supergroup is just a bunch of nonsense. Wasn't there some talk about another supergroup with Tommy Lee and David Lee Roth. I think Slash's name was also in the mix but I might be wrong on that detail. Obviously that went nowhere and I doubt this project will ever get off the ground. Supergroup my ass.
