What's the worst lyric from any of VH's former singers - solo or with the band? Here's the ones I can't stand:

Dave

"My engine searching
Like a harpoon
Like a monsoon
In your chat room"

Counter-blast - DLR Band

Sammy

"Only time will tell if we stand the test of time."

Why Can't This Be Love

Gary

"Big boys don't cry
as if nothing
seems to matter

Big boys don't cry
then why do I?"
"Some men are born to greatness, some women have greatness thrust up in them."<br /> <br />Diamond Dave

Yep, no shortage of shite in the Cherone songbook. Pretty much every lyric on the first Extreme cd bites.

Dave hasn't had too many clunkers lyric wise, but I totally agree that Counter Blast is horrendous. Easily the most embarressing thing he's put down.

I'm not familiar with a whole lot of Sammy's solo stuff, especially prior to him joining VH, so my immediate thought goes to Source of Infection.

There is some bad lyrics on the first Extreme album, but How Many Say I reigns supreme on his worst list.

Hey!
Don't be hating on Source of Infection.

Come on now!
Can't we all just get along?

Dig it!
You know what I mean??

Source is the worst set of lyrics ever. But Billy007's version of that story is classic.

As for Dave's, it's got be Counter Blast.

And Gary... Most of Extreme's first album, especially when compared to everything else they did.

just in the scope of VH lyrics -

Dave - "catch as catch, catch as catch" dave was the first to prove you can sing any silly shit over a VH tune. i loved the song, years before i ever figured out what the fuck he was saying. must have been a bitch to sing drunk.

Sammy - "WAM BAM THANK YOU MA'AM" thank you sammy for topping yourself in the lame ass cliche dept. and you didn't even use the word "love."

Gary - "pig tails and painted toes, all dressed up in your mother's clothes" kinda weirds me out, especially the angry way he delivers it. very psycho.

My Dave choice would have to be "Stand Up", that chorus just sucks.

There are too many with Ol' Sam, but here are a few of his "classics":

nothing left, nothing right
now they want a bigger bite
everybody wants some
everybody wants big money, oh yeah
they want big, fat money
that's what I want
big fat money

U.S. prime, grade A stamped guaranteed
Just grease it up and bring on the heat
Throw it down and roll it over once or twice
Then chow down
Chorus:
She's good enough, good enough to huh!

grow it long, shave it off
life is hard, never soft
I need a change, I need it quick
before it makes me sick

Hey!
Alright!
Whoo! How 'bout 'cha now,
Come on
Oh yeah!
Dig it!
That's right.
Is everybody ready?
Let's go!
Up and down, around and 'round
In and out
Crank it, blow out
Ouch
Help me
Flip on over
Oh baby, you know what I like
She choked the chain, she got the hook
Can't get away
Fever starts to climb, reaching 105 (degrees)
I think I need a shot of your love
Love, love is the source
Love, love is the source of infection
Hey Eddie
Say what
That's what I'm talkin' about
Wax it down now
Ready, set, go!
Love, love is the source
Love, love is the source
Love, love, love, love is the source
Love, love is the source

So baby dry your eyes, save all the tears you've cried
Ohh that's what dreams are made of
Oh baby we belong in a world that must be strong
Ohh that's what dreams are made of

I feel good, so good, so good, so good
It feels so nice, so nice
Feels so good
Feels so good
Feels so nice
When love comes around
I feel good

I better stop, this is too easy.

Sammy era: Can't Stop Loving You (No matter what you say or do) and Not Enough (Love hurts you sometimes) -- both of them are lyrically offensive.

Dave era: My brothers and I were lifting weights to VHII and Bottoms Up! started playing. Based on his most recent videos, we were really nervous about what Dave was really singing about and had to skip to the next tune. Totally ruined a good song.

In all seriousness, as much as I love both eras equally, Dave wrote better lyrics.

The biggest problem I had with Gary's lyrics was how Eddie overhyped them. He said we needed to listen to songs several of times so we could "get it". The songs were supposed to be some mystery. I remember thinking after listening to the album several times that I "got it" after the first time.

Dave: Got it bad, got it bad, got it bad,
I'm hot for teacher. This is as lame as it gets.

Sammy: Wham Bam Oh Amsterdam. Come on Sam... probably the alien encounter messed his head up.

Gary: The entire One I Want lyrics... goddamn that is so whacked, I had to take some medication afterwards.

There's one line in Runnin With The Devil: "I got no love, no love you'd call real"... the way Dave sang real, reoooollll, that is really disturbing.

DLR Army once had a run-down of lyrics from Sammy's solo years. Some of them gave "only time will tell if we stand the test of time" a run for its money.

And, it's not so easy to find.

Actually I just finished listen to Not Enough, and I do know what's it's like to love someone secretly, foolishly, hopelessly and honestly, and it fucking sucks. Maybe if he'd said it like that, people would make fun of it that much. Cause that is from the heart.... mine atleast.

Counterblast is the worst. Not just of Dave, but all of them. I can put up with a misplaced ryhyme, or a silly phrase about a pizza man. But a whole song that just makes me cringe? No way.

Worst of Dave Era: Whole cover of "Dancing In The Streets" sorry I can't stand that song.
Worst Of Sammy Era: All of "Big Fat Money"
Worst Of Gary Era: How Many Say I. Though in defense of Gary and Eddie, VH three does grow on you after time. Its not as easy to swallow as VH through Balance are but its some what enjoyable after when your trying to drown out traffic.
