I thought I'd start a topic worth talking about since posting lately is few and far between in here. After reading a few of the interviews with Eddie and Dave that you guys and Brett have so graciously put up here, and listening to "Everybody Wants Some" and "Dirty Movies" in the background, I have finally come to the conclusion that I DON'T want to hear a VH album anytime within the next few months. Why? Because it is obvious how much better the entire band sound was with Dave. Even if you take Dave's vocals out, the guitar sounds as edgy and sharp as a razor. It kicks more ass than Mike Tyson at a wife-beating convention. However, getting this sound back isn't as simple as plugging up and jamming. Ed's got a lot of work to do. Thats why I feel anything put out within the next few months (which ain't happening anyway) would be sub-par. Aside from mending their relationship, they have to work hard to regain the original sound. Dave's talk about the best albums being thrown together quickly will not work this time. They have to take it on the chin and beat this one out slowly. I don't want to hear below par music from VH, they are better than that. I want hardcore, kickass, hard riffs and Dave talking about guns and fast women and cars and kicking somebody's ass. Thats what everybody wants. And dammit, we are gonna get it, but not anytime soon. Why buy the Nissan when you can save up your money and buy the Lincoln Town Car? I've got all the patience in the world. I'll be here and ready when it happens. And so will all you bastards too! Until then, put in a little Unchained, grab a beer, and get ready.

Well, I understand where Nature Boy is coming from but I've never thought that ANYTHING Van Halen has released is sub-par music. Yes, 3 was different but I never had the feeling that the band half-assed their efforts in the studio. Every album is a genuine heart felt to my ears. I just don't see them EVER putting an album out that they aren't 200% happy with.

I agree with Top Timmy that everything that VH did was great!

I think that they were at their best with Sammy!

I'm moving this topic to VH Opinions.

    Yankee Rose,

If you think that VH was at their best with Sammy, then why did you take your name from a Dave song?

    Just curious.

Well, I coulda hada VH....I picked the name Yankee Rose because it is my favorite song, and I think it is a cool name.

Also Dave's Yankee Rose band with Vai and Sheehan is my second favorite band.

Yankee Rose isn't a VH song anyway. VH with Sammy was always my favorite era.

My two favorite VH songs are Why Can't This Be Love and When It's Love but I thought they would be sucky usernames. LOL!

    Yankee Rose,

Thanks for the explanation. BTW, I'm perfectly aware that Yankee Rose is not a VH song. I did refer to it in my post as a Dave song. I'm not sure if you were taking a shot at me with that little smiley face sticking its tongue out!

So "Why Can't This Be Love" and "When It's Love" are your two favorite VH tunes? That's the beauty of this site, "Different strokes for different folks." I never much cared for "Why Can't This Be Love." It always sounded kind of contrived and forced to me. Plus it lacks that classic Van Halen sound, IMO.

I would say my two favorite VH tunes are "Feel Your Love Tonight" and "Unchained," although it's pretty near impossible to choose just two out of so many great songs.

    Peace

Well, I'm like Yankee - I'm a Sammy nut with a DLR song as my username, mainly because my favorite VH song - "Dreams" - didn't sound very, um, cool.

Besides, can you beat someone calling you "Stuff"?

But, back on topic, you really shouldn't have to worry too much about sub-par music form the band so long as they aren't forced into a certain style by a producer or exec, and so long as you don't have as narrow a view of "good VH" as FORD does

True, I would be outrunning the cops to get to the music store to get a copy. But if I had the choice, I would rather wait for better. I never really meant that VH puts out bad stuff, because they don't. Par, meaning average. I think, in most everybody's opinion, 3 was subpar. Not bad, but subpar when comparing it to the average VH record. I'd much rather wait for the BIG WAVE to come rolling in than take the little shitty one first.
