After all this waiting, I wish we would have had an opportunity to hear some of the new tunes from the second cd that they were working on with Gary. From all the feedback that was out, it was supposed to be a pretty
"rocking" album. Instead we are just waiting and hoping that the rumours that Dave is back. I was one who liked VH III. I sure would have liked to hear another album with Gary instead of all this waiting. I hate to say this, I am as probably as big of VH fan as anybody, but frankly I am starting to lose interest.

Welcome to the site. Please don't take this the wrong way, but you took the time to register here and then post. And then you say you're losing interest?

But I know what you're saying, I also liked VH III and would have been happy to hear what they were working on with Gary before it fell apart.

I think we're going to get an album with Dave eventually, and when the gods deem it time for a box set, hopefully then we'll get to hear what they were working on with Gary before he left.

    Again, welcome and have fun.

    Glenn,
Thanks for your response. I should have clarified a few things. I posted here many times under another name. It has been a while though due to the fact I am in the process of moving and did not have my computer hooked up for about 5 months. So that is basically why I can say I am losing interest.

First off, welcome to the forums ACE!!

Second, I hear ya man. We were always getting updates from the official site when Van Halen were in the recording process. We kept hearing that this was more rocking than any other VH album to date. We would see album updates almost bi-weekly about the follow-up to VH3. I think any new VH would be great right now. The re-masters are great, but I've heard all those songs before. Gimme some brand new group to sink my teeth into!

ACE, what was your previous username?

I think the main reason I don't lose interest is the fact that I'm constantly aware that the band, like anything else, could be over at anytime. So I'm really thankful for what music they've given us so far, and anything we may get in the future is just extra icing on the cake.

Having said that, I'm of the opinion that Van Halen, for whatever reason, is terrible at the art of public relations. Maybe the way they do things is 100% deliberate, but I just feel like they don't have anyone who is master at publicity. Of course, Dave seems to fit that role nicely, hopefully he'll take over the role again. Maybe that's what's happening right now.

It definately would have been cool to hear another album with Gary. We could have better judged his fit within the band if we had gotten a second record.

My own opinion is the 'new' tracks with Gary couldn't have shaped up too well - to effectively throw away what seemed to be a fair body of work could only suggest it wasnt going as well as the official updates would have us belive..

Well, I guess that depends on the nature of Gary's depature, Goo. If he was forced out (which I honestly don't believe), then you could conclude that the tracks weren't worth the digital tape they're recorded on.

However, if the more likely scenareo of him leaving because he wasn't happy, things weren't working for the band with him in it, and he probably wasn't up to stepping into the role he had been given... Who knows. The tracks could very well have been excellent, they just got scrapped because they can't have an album with Gary's vocals and no Gary.

Basically, while I would have liked to have heard the songs (though that one described as being about a "dominating woman and a willing man" had me very worried), I'd imagine they're either repackaged with DLR on vocals or stored in that great recording vault Glenn keeps hoping they'll open and make a boxed set out of someday.

I have a feeling that the sessions for "Van Danniels II : Final Nail In The Coffin" are lost forever, and I'm not exactly sad about it.

Maybe VD could have pulled out a semi-Van Halen album. Maybe they would have done something even worse than VDIII. Either way, I would rather have the REAL thing

Well, I was only speculating of course, but I honestly think if everything was hunky dory, we would have had heard them by now. THe fact they got so far into it then pulled the plug suggests strongly that they wern't exactly setting the world on fire with the new tunes.

I believe with so much on the line after vh3 the band would have made an great second album with gary because they had so much to prove. Plus coming off the road would have made the chemistry tighter also. I think warner sisters are to blame for garys departure from VH. Who would leave a band like VH when the album was almost done? 3
