Live Without A Net

Whenever I listen to "Best of Both Worlds" from RHRN, I still get chills cause I'm thinkin of the footage from LWOAN. "Oh shit it's 5150 time" - classic Hammy, but ya gotta love it. Then Mike jumping down to join Ed and Sam, with Al pounding away.

A DVD would smoke. And there may be more footage. There's a cover of Wild Thing on The Unreleased set, liner notes for which date it to one of the two New Haven shows in '86. And LWOAN was filmed in New Haven in '86. Anyone out there who was at the LWOAN taping remember if they played Wild Thing that night?

Wild Thing is, IMHO, among the best covers VH has ever done. Ed and Sam both play and trade licks before a jamming dual-solo. If there's footage of it, and maybe more, I say open the vaults!!!

RHRN. The first time I saw Live Without a Net was the day after I saw the band play in 1992. The video seemed so flat compared to what I saw live. RHRN jumps around a lot, but I enjoy it more because it reminds me of that awesome night!

Don't know if they played it the second night but I read years ago that they were only able to tape one night due to a power surge or something that damaged some of the equipment. They did originaly plan on taping two and putting the footage together like RHRN.

I agree with most of you all, LWAN is the best, hands down. Ed's solo and the "5150" solo are some of the best stuff ever captured on tape, and that includes some of the more than 500 bootleg performances I've heard.

I disagree man. When I watched Eds solo from RHRN I wanted to cry cause I know how well Ed could play. I think on RHRN, Ed was just goin through the motions...

Now his solo from the US Fest - thats something else entirely...

LWAN is my choice as it has more energy and the guys are just reciprocating the energy in their performance. I do like RHRN and do not mind the editing but they left a lot of songs out and, while still good, I just like LAWN more.

Both are always on when the weekend comes around and I'm doing house cleaning.

Really?

Damn, I can't even remember the last time I listened to either of them.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

LWAN for sure. always loved it from day one.

I know I could have loved RHRN, but the editing man.....It must be an epileptic's nightmare!

Live Without a Net for me. I think the band came into its own during the For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge Era. That concert video and album could have been so much better.

LWAN is the pinnacle, obviously, yet I do love RHRN.

That was my first VH tour, and those memories simply can't be topped or erased - for me. Plus, I love the FUCK album and seeing those songs in the setlist. Major fan of the EBMM and 5150 combo, so that gives it even more bonus points.

Again..., for ME.
