    Ok,

If I go off and get a nice 50/100 watt head and 2x12 cab, what is the best way of getting the great tone from the head and not having the volume RIPPPPINGGGG loud ??????

Until we find that RIGHT house, we are stuck in this condo and can't play TOO loud.....

What kind of units are out there and what is the best???

    Powerbrake, speaker simulator,,,HELP...

    thanks.......

Depending on what amp you get, you could still get a good sound without cranking your amp to high heaven. If you still need some sort of load resister, I would recommend the THD Hot Plate. It's way better than the Powerbrake and other soak devices out there.

The Marshall power brake is the only "soak" that I Know of that uses a reactive speakerlike Technology. It returns fluctuating impedance's to your power tranny. In other words your amp thinks the brake is a speaker.

I think it is the best unit out there.

For what it's worth Guitar player magazine Liked the Powerbrake and gave it an "A."

This is what they had to say...

"The brake is designed to mimic a speaker load. It returns fluctuating impedance's to the amps output Tranformer. In certain frequencies a reactive load (the brake) puts less strain on an amp than a resistive one.

"Our ears and fingers whispered that reactive (the brake) technology is more speaker-like."

Buy a POD (rackmountable), and a power amp, or if your tight for cash, just buy a POD anf a set of headphones, and the the cab and power amp when you need it
