It's 100 watts, 2 years old, and he's sellin' it for 650. You guys think that's a good deal? Also what would be some good settings to get that cool VH sound? I'm just askin because I won't have too much time to mess with the settings, and it takes me awhile

Unchained, the choice is yours, but 650. is not a good price for a 2 year old twin. I used one for about a year, changing tube combinations and changing bias values to try and compensate for sounds I was trying to get and wasn't, not realizing that the amp simply wasn't cut out to do certain things. While it's not a bad blues amp, it's not one of the better ones. It's supposed to have more modern sounds, which it does, but VH's sound isn't in there anywhere.
The twin's not a bad amp at all quality wise, but isn't geared toward a VH type of sound, even with the gain cranked. The circuitry and speakers are all wrong, and the gain, and speaker voicing isn't the kind you get from a 5150 or marshall.
If you could get it for about 450. that would be a good price, but it still wouldn't give you the sound you're looking for. It's a middle ground amp, meaning it does a no. of things ok., but doesn't do anything really well. It's switchable from full to half power, but again, I can pretty well bet you, you'll be thinking of getting rid of it winthin a month after you get it, based on what sounds you're going for.
I'm not trying to be pessimistic, but just want to make sure you're informed before making a possible choice that'll cost you 650.

tribb's right, UW - a Fender is never going to get you a brown sound. IMO, twins are sweeeet amps, as long as you're looking for a nice clean sound. If you want that Halen magic, though - definitely not the route to go.
