I actually always liked the cover to Women & Children First. It's so them and captures the spirit of Van Halen very well.

Well, let's see...where to begin? Ok, VH I is good, because it introduces every member of the band on the cover and it introduces the logo. VH II is good because it is simple and totally highlights to logo which, by that time, was famous. WACF is nice and simple, with all the VH charm in the band portrait. FW is ok, kind of a cool painting, but doesn't really do it for me (though the album rules). DD is a cool idea, but I just don't go for it. Too basic, and what does Diver Down have anything to do with VH. Did they take up SCUBA or something? 5150 is a killer idea, and the backside art, with the band coming out of the globe is classic, but I can't say it's my favorite because I just don't go for a guy in a speedo (now if they changed it to Atlasette, then it would be better. OU812 is a great Beatles parody, but rather boring. FUCK is cool, but tame. LRHRN is mixed bag. The statue cover is cool, and I like the message implied by it. The sign (I had it on tape, so the cd backside art is the art on the cover of tape two) is kind of lame. Balance is funky, but that's not always good. Also, I can just imagine some pervert getting off on seeing little siamese twins naked so that's another big down side to it. BOVO is cool. Very simple and to the point, like VHII. VHIII is my second favorite. The only thing that I don't like about the cover is the placement of "Van Halen III." The should have put it at the top or bottom (I know it's supposed to say that VH is the cannon, but I still don't like the placement). Everything else about that cover is killer. I love that short movie of the guy getting shot. I've seen it a few times.

Finally, my favorite all time VH album cover art:

    1984

The painting of the kid is cool enough. The cigarette just makes it cooler. Even though I don't smoke, and hate the smell of cigarettes, it's just cool. Totally expresses the attitudes of the band-rebellion, coolness, etc. ANyway, that's my 2 (thousand) cents worth.

I always liked the "back" of WACF- always wondered if that was a real doobie in Mikey's hand. I would think that it was.

1984 is staring me as my desktop wallpaper. And it is quite cool looking.

Allthough, I liked Balance, but for totally different reason:
-it had LOTS of different pictures infold
    -it had all lyrics
-it had a very professional layout and color design
