I pulled the pickups out of a Fender body years ago, they had been sitting in a box since the earth cooled.
I havn't really played it yet for more than a few minutes so I can't really say how it sounds,
if you notice in the picture the strings are off of it so I can do a little more fine tuning to the neck, I'll let ya know when I have played it for a few days.

You are THE MAN, Rol - great job. But I have to ask - have you cleared this with Stevie's estate? They might hold the patent on beat up strat bodies with lefthanded tremolos, a black pick guard, white p-ups, "SRV" and "Custom" truck stop stickers, etc.

Rol... brutha... you are the fucking MAN!

That is sweeeeeeeeet!!! Say, out of curiosity, about how much would you suppose one of those replicas would set me back? Also, do you think you could do a replica of "Lenny"? I may just have to talk to you about acquiring one of those bad boys...

GREAT work, man!

Heh, funny you should mention that, I have a dictoinary sized legal brief from Fenders lawyers
telling me I can't sell that guitar with the SRV on the pickguard, I can sell it without it or with any other initials just not SRV cause they (Fender) own it.

GREAT work, man!

thanks for the kind words, I'd have to see "lenny"
I'm not sure about that one but a number one without the SRV would be $1100 with case and it would have the texas specials

Very nice Rol, now you have to make sure to use 12's for strings and soak them in beer, also don't forget that the action needs to be two inches off the neck

it's got 12 to 56's on them and the action is a little high but I didn't get krazy with it, I do want to play this thing you know, also it has a standard strat contour neck, that's what I had so that's what I used I'll probably change it to a "SRV" C-back contour when I get around to it, the body was custom made out of AAA alder much much better than fenders alder .
When I plugged this thing in it was very very warm, now I know why SRV had 13's, the sound is incredible out of these things and yes my fingers hurt but they'll get used to it, this thing plays "voodoo chile" just hanging on the rack

VERY sweet, Rol. Some day I will be calling you for work when I have some extra cash to throw around for shits n giggles.

Funny, that sounds a lot like tripoutski's axes to me - I swear you could drive a truck between the guy's strings and fingerboard.
Plus, trip has been known to use beer for just about anything - it's his version of duct tape.

well I could lower the action there is plenty to go before it starts to buzz but I thought I'd try the SRV action, 7\64ths" at the 12th fret from the bottom of the low E string to the top of the fret and that's what she is, it isn't too bad and I got used to it in a couple hrs of playing but it is harder to play, I play it for an hour then pickup one of my guitars and it seems like the strings are laying on the fretboard and it makes them seem easier to play, anyway I'm liking this thing alot.
