    My guitarist just bought a Triple XXX amp. It was a floor model in Mannys, here in NYC (so I'm fairly sure it was in decent shape off the sales floor). My question is; He called me last night & said he was not getting loud volume from the amp? He uses a 4x10 Marshall cab. I asked if they may have pulled tubes, being it was on the sales floor, to prevent too loud a volume, but he checked & all where present & accounted for. Any ideas? I'm going to go take a look after work today.
    PS;
    He tried a Randal Warhead first, & had the same problem..

    Did he mess with the damping switch in the back of
    the amp? There's a lot of stuff to tweak with the XXX to get it 'just right.' I'd suggest the
    damping switch first.

    Thats what I would think too, I've hear the XXX is similar to the Ultra, and I know it has a half power switch. But he shouldn't have any problem getting volume with 60 watts, so it sounds like something's wrong in the power section. On a side note I recently saw one of these on ebay that was improperly shipped and damaged(the head cabinets on these are particle board and it was busted.) The point is that perhaps there was something that happened to the head when it got shipped to the store. And of course there's always the possibility of someone screwed the amp up at the store since it was a floor model.

    OK, Quick update;
    This was being used on a "home made" 4x12 cab, and, well... he had the fucker wired wrong! He spent tonight rewiring all the speakers, then he called me a few ago, said "Holy SHIT! This thing SCREAMS"! So, long story short.. USE WIRING SCHEMATICS WHEN BUILDING CABS!.. LMAO!!!
