ok, who knows anything about this guitar???
actually i saw one at the local shop, and although i realize it's made in korea, i was wondering if it would make a good beginner guitar... it closely resembles the wolfgang in design, and even has 2 humbuckers...
i think i can get one for under $200, too
what do ya think???

Dave, although there's nothing spectacular about it, it is a sturdy built guitar. If it's been played then it's already broken in for you, which is a plus.
I'd say it's a good deal for a beginner guitar, and better than a number I've seen for the money you mentioned.

Well Dave, you've got no shortage of enthusiasm, and that's good to see.
You're gonna run into hurdles and get frustrated, especially when you're just beginning. When you do, just get up and walk away for a little while and then come back to it. If you've got any questions or problems we can help you with you know where to find us. Feel free to email me as well, if there's something I can help you with.
Now pick up that friggin guitar and start practicing.

And a warm welcome to the whacky world of guitar slingers!
You have just taken your first few steps into a great adventure. As Tribb said, there will be ups, and there will be downs. NEVER give up; playing the guitar is well worth the effort.
It's good you got video lessons; it will get you started. If you have a bit of cash left, I recommend you take a few lessons with a live instructor too.
Good luck, and rock on!

Do yourself a favor........learn the chords and practice changing chords........I could play parts of Eruption before I could change chords smoothly and I think it hurts me to this day..........but then a good pick slide is cool........no nevermind......just keeping working on that G to C thing......that's like a hundred tunes....

Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett

Carver's absolutely right. If you've got a few dollars to spare, take a lesson or two with an instructor to get you started off properly.
Videos are fine too, once you know how to position the fingerboard properly, and can identify positions on the neck so that you can move along with the video.
Like Jimmy says as well, chording is good to strengthen your fingers evenly, and it'll build stamina in the muscles you use to play.

Tribb you want to keep those double posts down

I good understanding of the basics is absolutely a huge help when your starting out. It's like learning to read a map, once you know how, you just need to pick your destination.
