I'm thinking of getting some Bill Lawrence pups to finish off a telecaster project that I've been procrastinating about for two years now. I'm looking at a 280TN for the neck and a 290TL for the bridge. Has anyone had any experience of these? They get good reviews at harmony central and they're very reasonably priced, but I've only ever tried that butt-ugly humbucker myself (you know, the one with the rails for pole-pieces). Any thoughts?

Other than reading that Joe Perry recorded with the single coil Lawrence pickups on his BC Rich's and a couple Teles in the early 80s, I really haven't had much experience with them myself.

But I do know that the Washburn Nuno N2 model had the Lawrence humbucker like you described in the bridge position. Years ago I played the N2 w/Lawrence p/u through a variety of amps- straight through with no FX. I really didn't care too much for that particular tone, but I believe the guitar/pickup setup with distortion and delay pedals in between is the same setup as what Nuno used on the first two Extreme albums.
    No hay dios!
