I was flipping through one of my recent Guitar World mags (the great George Harrison is on the cover) last night when I noticed an interesting advertisement. It was a Kramer ad about a new guitar. Its called the "1984". Red strat style body, no pick guard, one pickup, one volume knob, and equipped with a Floyd Rose unit. The tagline was this: "The '1984' a dead-on reissue of a legendary instrument."

It didn't say Eddie or Van Halen anywhere in the text, but I think we all know who's guitar this is. The only thing missing was the stripes. Obviously, the Van Halen name is still huge among guitar players. Kinda cool. Anyone notice this ad?

There has been much talk going on for many months about these guitars in the guitar forum. People who have them have given reviews. Please search through that forum for info.

The Ernie Ball is by far the most superior VH related guitar. They still sell the AXIS, which is almost identical to the EVH Ernie Ball except for the placement of the knob and switch. I feel that they are the ULTIMATE guitar.

This is what I found on the Kramer "1984". Looks like the standard run of the mill Kramer Barreta of its time. Nothing about EVH...weird!
