Okay, I'm thoroughly confused. I'm coming late to the game here, having not followed the evolution of EVH's guitars until recently, but I'm interested in making a purchase, and I want to make as informed a decision as possible.

I take it that the Ernie Ball Music Man's came first, and they appear to be quite expensive. As I understand it, when Ed left, they became the Axis, and they're somewhat more reasonably priced.

Then there's the Peavey Wolfgang, which EVH still endorses (right?). This is where I get lost. I don't understand all of the models, which are American made, which are Korean, etc. etc. And I don't have a clue as to what sells for what, new and used.

I know this has been discussed here ad nauseum, and I don't want to rehash it all again, but I'm wondering if there's a good website someone might be able to direct me to that would answer a lot of these Q's for me without burdening everyone here with it as I adjust my learing curve. I love www.jemsite.com, even though I don't own a JEM, as you can find just about everything you'd every want to know about those guitars there.

    Thanks in advance.

Well dude, you came to the right place.
You said you were thinking of making a purchase, so I need to know what the purpose of the purchase is in order to give you the best information.
For example, if you are wanting to make a purchase for an investment, and do not plan to play it, save your money and get an original EBMM Eddie Van Halen signature model.

If you want something with Eddies name on it, and you want to play it, get a Wolfgang Standard(the one with a tone knob and carved top) All Wolfgang Standards are U.S.A. made.

P.S. It does not say "Standard" on the headstock, it just says "Wolfgang".

If you want a great playing guitar, and are not interested in whether Eddies name is on it or not, get an EBMM Axis.

The only time it gets confusing is when you start talking about the Wolfgang Specials, which is the less expensive alternative to the Wolfgang.

For right now at least, any solid colored Wolfgang Special is U.S.A. made.
Wolfgang Flame-top Specials are U.S.A. made.
It is the Wofgang Quilt-top Special that is made in Korea.
For a Korean guitar, the QT Special is really good, but I would recommend a Standard, or a solid colored Special, as the re-sale will be higher if you decide to sell.

My personal preference is the EBMM Axis, because I can't afford a real EBMM EVH.
