Whats the best order to put your effects in for the VH sound, either early VH or the later years?

It really depends on the amp you're using, whether you're going through the loop or straight in, and whether you're using compression in your effects chain.

well I got myself a JCM 800 and had it modded
and It smokes but still needs to be runnin' balls out to sound right so I got my self an attenuator, that tone ain't gonna happen till you have an amp modded correctly or spend $2000 plus on a boutique and then more on a hotplate or Palmer speaker simulator yadd yadda then a reverb, phase 90 and an echo plex, you can try the new digital echo plex's Dan Electro makes one I'm gonna try if it don't sound right I'll sell it.
you'll also need a good EQ cause imo you'll have to EQ the shit out of it, I bought a 31 band.

I'm still in process of putting this together a little at a time since last April, I'll post clips as soon I have it the way I want.
here are some amp I have heard come pretty close

Mojave Peacemaker ($2500)
Blockhead ($2500)
Rochefort don't know the price nor do I know how to spell his name

and it's said that the Budda, Mohave coyote 45
and lots of others come close all expensive though.
Oh I think the THD Unvalve can do it too Larry any comments ?? (It's only $600 or so)

as for the guitar a one hum (mounted anyway you like) in either good Alder or ash with maple\maple neck, capped is a good start.
I used the Duncan TB-5 "Custom" in my VH1's
it's the same specs as the TB-11 "Custom Custom"
but with a different magnet. The pickup is so speculative though cause people will tell me I'm nuts and that the TB-5 is dogshit for that sound
but several that I have sold them to say different.
just my 2 cents
Rol.
