I'm seriously thinking of parting with my beloved Marshall, because I need some money. I was thinking of listing it on Ebay on Tuesday and figured that I'd give you guy’s first crack at it if you're interested.

The guy who modded it doesn't want his name public so we can talk about that part through email. Let’s just say he's done a few of these. The mod is done to capture the VH tone, and that it does. Tribb can attest to this. Feel free to add anything I miss tribb.

Anyway the head is;

1978 Marshall JMP

50watts

2 channel with independent EQ controls for each

Active Resonance control

Variable effects loop.

1/2 power mode for practicing at home.

2 variable gain stages,
gain one brings you into JCM 800 with a tube screamer type of tone.

Gain 2 brings you up to 5150 level of gain without the fuzz.

A blend of the two can get you Plexi type of tones, most defiantly early VH tones. Bump the gain up a bit and you have Zacks tone. Pretty much any tone that's Marshall this sucker does. Like I said the gain can be as much as a 5150 but this guy doesn't buzz. So the more modern VH stuff sounds great.

PM or email me for pics or to talk price. I hate hate hate to have to get rid of her but I do

The only thing I can add is that it's footswitchable and the clean channel has it's own set of controls around back where they're out of sight.
Also, the 1/2 power channel is modified with a small custom built cicuit board that only kicks in when 1/2 power is engaged.
It makes it sound like it's going full out with more balls than any 5150 or marshall you've heard.
It's great for close mic recording.
This was one of two heads I had custom modded for a VH tribute I played in for a number of years.
Homeunit's head was my backup and recording head.
I kept it at home so I would only have to take one head on the road but never had any problems with it so I eventually gave in and sold it to Homeunit.
Like Homeunit said this guy is a wizard at modding these heads but only did a few a year, and there are probably les than 60 in existence.
Most guys got 2 or 3 made. It'll go from a stock marshall sound to Ed to Zakk or anyone one in between, but still never loses that marshall tone.
All the transformers are stock.
I'm not doing the tribute any more, but I've hung onto mine too. I take it into the studio now and then so other bands can record with it.
I don't care what mod you've got done to your marshall head. You ain't heard one like this.
Too bad you've got a cash problem Homey.

New hardwood floor for the basement or a sweet sounding amp???.....hold on guys.....it's my wife................

I guess you know the answer....
Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett
