I posted this over at the Dome, but I figured I'd post it here too to get a bigger response.

Ok, I was wanting to conduct my own little experiment: To build an EVH guitar. I was thinking about either the Fair Warning era Frankenstrat or the 5150 Kramer. I'm guessing that the F.W. Frankenstrat is cheaper, so I'll probably go with that. On Rol's site he lists it as the "Frankenstien circa 1980" guitar. So....can anyone who knows about this thing tell me what kind of neck, body, pick-ups, etc. Eddie had. And also if there is a place on the internet that sells these parts for good prices.

    Thanks alot.

I can't remember what the parts were, but you can find out on the main VHLinks webpage. Just go to http://www.vhlinks.com and go to the right of the screen. There's something about band interviews being up and just read the first 2 or 3 interviews w/ Eddie. He talks a lot about his building of his guitars.

MAN!!! Read the very end of that 1980 interview. The interviewer asks Eddie how far he can reach on the fretboard. Ed says that on the high E string, he can reach from the 5th fret to the 12th fret. That is a pretty damn good stretch there. A good reach for me is from the 5th to the 10th. But my fingers aren't too long, which is why I like more narrow necks.
