Just curious. I tuned to Dflat and found it a bit too clanky. I also tried DADGAD which was awight.

I do some open E for malted milk off of claptons unplugged album and some leo kottke stuff too. Open G is also good for bluesy stuff.

A good tuning to screw with is the tuning from "Top Jimmy" - DADACD. It's sort of like an open D7 tuning and sounds badass - it's a little rough to solo in but it's really interesting to screw around riffwise. While you've got your axe in this tuning, you simply HAVE TO learn that harmonic intro to TJ. Other than that, all my guitars stay in Standard E tuning or Eb. Eb is my favorite by the way.

That's a good tuning too. Half of the songs on Fair Warning are in that tuning.

I'm generally tuned down a whole step, and for about half of my stuff the low D (E) string is tuned down to C (D).

I've tried going lower but I found that you lose too much of the guitars presence. Also the strings start turning into elastic bands

My band plays down 1/2, so all my guitars are tuned accordingly.

We tune to standard and then drop the low E to D. Our secondary tuning is that, but with the B string tuned down to A.

I use DADGAD quite a bit as well as open C, which gives a nice Zepplinish touch on acoustic tunes. I usually tune 1/2 step down and occasionally will use dropped D tuning as well.

I keep my strat and semi acoustic tuned to standard 440, but my other electrics are tuned down a full step.
I keep my amp tuned down a full step too.

I tune standard A=440 all the time. Always have, probably always will. (I've never been much of a rebel)
