I have some buds in Lekesville. They called this morning and said they were told they are shutting the guitar plant down and moving it...wonder what this means for Wolfgangs??

I have read about this on another board also. It basically means there will be new people building the guitars and learning at the same time.

I saw it on Harmony Central's forums this morning.
I've been thinking about an EVH Custom Shop Wolf, but not if people in training are building them.

I can't comment much on this, other than to confirm that the Leakesville facility will be shut down. All guitar production will be moved back to the original guitar plant in Meridian.

I can add that you don't have to worry about "trainees" building Custom Shop Wolfgangs. That will not be necessary.

Roger,

Thanks for the info you could give. However, I'm not sure I understood your post about not worrying about 'trainees' building Custom Shop Wolfs. Please tell me that the Custom Shop isn't closing. I really have been thinking hard about ordering one this spring.

I have faith that Peavey knows what their doing and the quality of the USA made products will remain unchanged.

I think what he meant was, since the wolfgangs have so many flaws, it doesn't matter if veterans or trainees build them. Flaws in the wolfgang production have been documented numerous times.

I was in Brook Mays talking to their guitar tech about what he has to do when a Peavey arrives. He said if the frets on a Peavey need cleaning up or the guitar needs a setup, he will do it if the customer asks, otherwise it goes out the door. I also asked him why the guitars were all out of tune (every damn one of them were seriously out of whack), and he said it judges the customer's ability to truly play... Cough..Cough.. bullshit..cough...lazy bastard..cough

Gawwwwd...LOL! Some of these hacks that work in guitar shops crack me up. That's like selling filthy cars on an auto lot and claiming that the buyer should be able to pick the best car by smelling the dipstick and being able to name what grade and brand of oil was last used.

Well, I've not experienced flaws with any of my 3 Wolfgangs. Great playing and sounding guitars.

However, any guitar can arrive at stores with problems. I don't know how many times I've heard that EBMM's quality was so much higher over Peavey's. Then why are some many of their $2000 + John Petrucci signature guitars arriving at the stores with stress cracks at the neck joint? This is a serious problem that many JPM owners have complained about. I'd rather have a new guitar arrive at the store out of tune, than have a stress crack through the finish. Don't even get me started about Fender and Gibsons production line guitars.
