I've noticed that the bottom seems to have fallen out of the used Wolfie market. I've been in on several auctions recently on ebay, and the ones I've been bidding on have consistently been drawing $800-850 bids for a flame top standard, but the reserve is never met, so no sale.

There's another thread here suggesting that the Wolfgang standard may not be worth purchasing for $1,700 new, and this is a non-issue for me since I don't have that much (or more properly, can't sneek that much by the Missus).

Anyway, what have you guys been paying recently for your new or used Wolfies? I'd be interested in hearing prices on all models (not just the Standards). Thanks.

I bought a purple flame top standard last year for $800 at a music store (used). I never play the guitar anymore. If I were to sell it, I'd probably ask around $600 minimum.

They don't resale well at all, I would never never buy a new one, i have gotten flametop specs for $700 and flametop standards for $800 and as mentioned if you watch ebay they don't get $800
sometimes, I saw a purple 99 standard go for $650
    you just have to watch
and I missed buying a sherry sunburst for $650 Shipped a few months ago you have to be quick and jump on them though the buy it nows for that cheap won't last more than a couple of days.

I've never bought one new, but a couple of em were pretty much dead mint. It just seems insane to me to buy one new when you can get a pretty much mint, or in damn good shape used axe.

I bought a blue standard off a dude, after I lost an auction on one. I paid a grand, but like I said it was dead mint, I wanted it, and it's also got an insane amount of birdseye.

Then I got a gold special, also pretty much dead mint, for $500 with free shipping.

Next a Trans red special flametop, for $550, but the dude was a fucking bonehead that shipped the guitar, so it got dinged in shipping I imagine. Not to mention that HE didn't mention the fact that the volume knob wasn't stock, and the pickup switch was reverse wired. Needless to say, pictures are worth a thousand words, and so are questions. But aesthetics don't sway me and I like the axe.

Then I bought a trans red standard for $740. The top's in great shape with a small ding by the input jack. But unbeknownst to me, the guitar arrived a Pat. pending Wolf.

Well on top of a couple Ernie Balls, and my other axes, a move to school coming up, and a synth purchase(not guitar), I've decided to sell the specials. I'd really rather not, but I need the cash and I've just got too many fucking guitars for a dude going back to school. I listed em once, and nothin, but I'm gonna relist em and see what happens.

It's been my observance that if a blue or green standard goes on, they usually fetch a grand or damn close. I'd figured the amber wolves would mostly but guess not.

i got my red wolf standard for 800.

they seem to be holding there quite steady and are worth every penny of it.

next in line are black and ivory standards, but i don't really need those, just nice to have.

Well I got one brand new, it's a amber archtop, but then again my wife got it for me for Christmas last year ( god love her ) I know she somewhat of a deal but she wont tell me exactly how much. Now the last 3 specials that I own have all been under 400.00 bones, that last one, a black special I got for 350.00 with case and all documents including shipping !! so there out there and can be hunted down.. reasonably. Would I EVER buy a new one ? I'd have to pass on that idea.

    I bought my Wolfie new.

    I didn't know any better.

I wouldn't know a good guitar if it bit me in the ass, but to me....the Wolfie was a step above the Charvel/Jackson "Superstrat" thing I was playing at the time.

I bought it becuase the Charvel had major tremelo issues and I was tired of fuckin' with it. I didn't even play the Wolfgang. I made the call......said hold it......and picked it up.

Now after playing it for a couple of years......and playing other guitars.......I think a used Wolfie would have been a good idea for me.

I love the Wolfie, but after reading posts from Tribb, Homeunite, Rols and others, the Wolfie seems a little pricey for what it is. It's a good guitar, but not worth the $1279.03 I shelled out......that did include a nice leather strap.

Next axe for me: that 1984 thingy from MusicYo.
Actually I think most of us are Dave, Sam, and Mike fans. There's just a small group of people who have strange allegiances and like to get into petty pissing contests that I can't believe everyone on this site isn't bored of. - Brett

Yea, I know the specs dude, but thanks for pointing it out.
