Don't laugh - You know that high pitched cool noise he makes. He's even referred to it as a horse noise in this boot I have of him backstage. I can't understand how it is such a high pitched scream, yet is left hand is near the nut/first fret.
How do I make that noise

It's an artificial harmonic on the G string, 2nd fret; followed by a bend and then going crazy on the whammy bar. It's pretty simple. But I'm sure someone may be able to explain it to you a little better.

What I do is: place my left middle finger just over the 2nd fret of the G and B strings and play an open harmonic and immediately pull up on the bar then gradually come down with the bar in a frenzy....and then "grounding out the low E, A and G strings.(sounds like the "bootleg" footage of Eddie backstage...it's actually footage of VH during the pre-airing of Live Without a Net on MTV back in the "Cool MTV days) I still have the VHS copy with the cool commercials. They also show Eddie doing an elephant noise...do you know how to do this wonderful trick? Let me know. I will tell you if needed.
    Just go for it!

    The elephant trick:

with your volume down, play a natural harmonic on the 3rd string, 5th fret; 2nd string, 7th fret; and the 1st string, 12th fret.

Once you hit all three harmonics (they should all be ringing at the same time, so you have to do it fast), then press down on the whammy, turn up your volume as you pull back up on your bar then lower your bar and decrease volume all at the same time.

Practice, practice, practice, this to me was a hard trick to learn.
    Your favorite band sucks.

Thank you everyone. Thanks Tribb. I'll try the tricks. I should also try getting better at the instrument generally!
