John Scofield has got another album out today, and I was wondering if any of you six stringers dig this guy. He's in my top five of all time right now, that's saying alot, considering he's holding company with Beethoven, VH, Sabbath, and Dizzy Gillespie. This guy plays so well, and always with the coolest musicians.

Any thoughts?

ps. I posted here because I figure at least you guitar players could appreciate him, which is questionable in the Music Forum.

Sco has always been highly regarded in my book.
Have'nt heard much of his recent stuff, but I remember tasty lines, smooth tone, and always bending your ear just enough to keep you listening but not too far out there.
A fine guitarist, glad you dig him.
From your handle, I'm guessing that you're a drummer? I have been grooving on a Dave Weckl CD
SYNERGY that has Buzz Feiten on guitar, verry nice stuff.
Check it out if you haven't yet.

Well, I'm here to tell you, this latest album is the shit!

It's called Uberjam, which is german for "the jam to beat all jams" and I'd say he got it right. There is something for everyone on this album. Worth every penny, and each listen.

Also, other recent greats include "Bump", and "A Go-Go" These three albums are a great investment for guitarists, and other musicians alike. He always has the baddest musicians playing with him.

Hope you guys enjoy Sco like me!

I heard part of one of his new songs on the public radio station I listen to. It was great. I thought it was Jeff Beck at first. I don't recall the name of the tune, but I dug it!

Scofield's 'A Go Go' is an INCREDIBLE piece of grooving jazz and great guitar. Check it out if you haven't. He's backed by Medeski, Martin & Wood on this album. Seen Sco live many times with a couple different lineups, but haven't seen him top his work on 'A Go Go' yet...IMHO.
