I'm with Japeman. I use a Dunlop 2.0 mm or 1.5 mm. I prefer the purple plastic ones to the gator grips.

Little pointy Dunlop 1.14 Jazz picks (the purplish ones). I don't know why, but I like 'em!

I use peavey or fender mediums, but only white ones because they are the thinnest. Heavy picks just kill my strings (9-42).

Ed uses metal picks on 2 songs. 'Without You' and 'Don't tell Me..'.

I actually have 2 of his picks. Actual picks he used, that I caught at 2 different shows.....

I would say they are meduim thin. The closest thing I have found are the .60mm Dunlops. I would say his are .70mm......

    peace,

Intrestingly, if you play an acustic with a really light pick, it brightens everything up a whole lot!

Maybe thats why Ed uses the real thin ones??

Interesting topic. I've seen a few picks friends of mine had snagged at VH shows. They were surprisingly thin, but I don't know the exact thickness.

I think the reason Edward uses a thin pick is because of his picking style. His 'speed' picking is done with the pick held between his thumb and middle finger. It's very easy to lose a heavy pick using this style, whereas a thin/medium deflects and doesn't fly out of your hand as easily.

    Check it out for yourself.
