Anyone have any ideas as to the problem of my wah pedal, and any suggestions as how to fix it. When I use the wah it has a terrible crackling sound. If I click it on and just leave the pedal alone, it sounds fine. Only during the up and down motions of the pedal does this crackling sound take over the amp. Any help would be appreciated!

Sounds like the pot needs to either be cleaned or replaced. Try spraying some contact cleaner in the pot.

Oh yeah, before that, make sure all your cables are in good shape.

Put a drop of oil in the pot. That will take care of the crackle since the crackle is most likely enhanced when using the Wah

The easiest thing with those is to just change the pot and save yourself future headaches.
Because of the constant rocking motion cleaning will only slow down the inevitable.
Once they (pots) start crackling all the time it's best to replace them.

you don't want to put oil into a pot, electric contact cleaner is fine but if oil gets to the right place it will cause more problems , you may have done this in the past and got away with it but oil is just asking to ruin the pot for good by shorting it.
I say contact cleaner and them if that don't work pitch it.

You can try some graphite powder in it.
Probably telling you something you already know here, but you can change the freq. the sweep covers in a crybaby too if you want.
Could I ask if your sound thins out a bit when you run the crybaby in line?

</font>
Nope, not a one. Had a Dunlop Cry Baby last for over 13 years with a few drops of oil in her now and again. I finally replaced it because everything else, but the pot had worn themseleves pretty thin Best to keep electronics with low friction cleaner anyway to avoid the short. Thanks for the tip

YEA, GET A FUCKIN BAD HORSIE!!!

I still have a Cry Baby that went to shit on me, and I don't use a Wah enough to be dealing with pots and shit, so I bought one.

Can't say I ain't happy with it either. It's not as syrupy as a cry baby, but it gets the job done for as much as I use it.

Good luck with the wah man, maybe I should get that old P.O.S. of mine fixed.
FUCK THE DUMB SHIT!!!!
