Pretty good. Nice articulation, and not real buzzy.
What's your rig?

That's a nice tone mate - Kind of half way between the Women and Children First tone and Fair Warning I reckon. Although I guess it all comes down to the quality of my computer speakers

Roughly, yeah. More like 8-25, depending on the type of power tube used. Not sure I understand the point of the question...

Ahh, I gotcha. Well, it'll shake your pants through a 4x12, no doubt about it. A lot of people have bought them thinking it's the ultimate bedroom amp, then come to find out it's way louder than they thought (particularly with a higher output tube). At home, I generally have the hotplate engaged, rolling off about 25% - that's in a house, where I don't really have to worry about volume other than for my own ears. In an apartment, I'm not sure it would really be useable - you'd have to squash it way down with the hotplate. I haven't gigged with it yet, but plenty of people have reported no problems keeping up with a band in a live situation, even with a fairly loud drummer. The one thing that I think might be a problem is if you need a LOUD crystal clean sound. The UV isn't really the right amp for that purpose.

It's a cool design though, having the hotplate rather than a MV. That way you can always get power tube action going. And with it cranked and the hotplate off, it's more than loud enough for just about any purpose, but not so loud that you'd get kicked out of a place like a cranked 100w would. Way cool amp. I am kinda jonesing for a super lead reissue, though, to use to for umm...certain purposes ...

The Univalve is A LOT louder than you would think. With tube watts 15 watts isn't half as loud as 30 watts, its half as loud as 150 watts. This amp is actually really great for getting dimed power tube distortion and not killing someone. I've actually heard of guys having to use the built in hotplate to tame the volume in clubs.

For everyone hear looking to get Eddie's old sound, most of you know that sound is a non master volume Marshall with the volume on ten, getting full blown power tube saturation. Well, next time you get a chance to crank a 100 watt Plexi to ten, be prepared to get the wind knocked out of you. The Univalve allows you to get that power tube saturation at an actual enjoyble volume.

This is also possible with a non master volume Marshall and a HotPlate, but the Marshall would require a lot more attenuation than the Univalve, and the more you attenuate the signal the more fizzy the sound gets. So the Univalve is a great choice for Plexi type power tube saturation tones for those of us who don't play arenas. Unless your drummer and bass player are abnormally loud, the the Univalve is giggable with plenty of volume.
