Just out of wonder is the Kramer glossed? Even the pictures from 1984 it seems like the thing didn't have a gloss coat...Or atleast not a very good one LOL...

This is a question for Rols, but considering the way Ed slapped them together I don't imagine he'd bother with a gloss coat. If he had someone else do the painting by that time, who knows.

I think the 5150 was actually painted by a Kramer employee but it did not have a gloss coat. I think its pretty safe to assume just about every guitar with stripes or any of the other weird Eddie designs that Ed played didn't have a gloss coat, except for the black and yellow Charvel. But Rol will definitely be able to give a much more educated answer than me.

No There was no gloss coat on any of the Kramers that were made to my knowledge and if there were he didn't play them, he liked the worn used look
and they were made that way right from the factory, the paint jobs were very crude, you can see the hardlines as the stripes crossed eachother
and there are drips of paint here and there.
take a look at the 5150, the black stripe that runs diagonal at the bottom of the guitar isn't nowhere near straight, it was started at one point then stopped and started again at a different angle, and there is a big drip of paint under it, it's hard to see cause the 5150 numbers
are covering it but take a straight edge to it and you can see what I mean.

Yea, but did you notice the way the high E string sits on the neck, right by the edge. It looks just like the evh. It's hard to tell from the face, but going by the light on the frets that neck looks like it could easily be a 10" radius. The light off the frets shows it as a more curved face than a 15" radius.
I may be hallucinating but it looks like it to me.

My Wolfgang high sits almost exactly like that!(heh, almost exactly ) Its the main reason I picked it out, because I really liked how the EBMM's were like that. To me with the string like that it makes for better dig in high E bends, and the other Wolfies in the store didn't play as well as the one I picked out to me. The store guy thought I was a nut for buying a black standard Wolfie used with the string lined up like that when he had a sunburst flametop model used for $100 more. All I could tell him was the black one played about twice as good as the sunburst that was in there. Plus $700 used for a 97 model bought in 1998 wasn't a bad price at all!

By all I could find out and this is coming from people who would know, I was told it was 12 degrees.

also everyone take notice, look at the Floyd posts
see how they have cracked the body and it's pushing a piece of wood the width of the post shaft into the pickup cavity ?
anyway this is my picture to anyone who ever argued about what Eds paint jobs were like, it shut them up pretty quick and btw look at the white spot you can ever so slightly see wood grain
where his arm was wearing everything off.
