Haven't posted here in a while but here goes...

I think my Wolfgang Special is having a problem. It seems that my tremelo is not responding as it used to. Huh? I know, I don't get it either. I go to use it, and it feels maybe not as stiff as it used to. I don't know, it's hard to describe.

I use the whammy alot (I mean alot), and have never had it worked on before. It is appx. 3.5 years old. I love it, but somethings not right anymore. My gut is telling me maybe something is wrong with the spring and maybe all I need to do is simply replace the spring. Unfortunently I'm not real knowledgable about the complexity of my guitar, but does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks for any help!

Have you looked in the back of your guitar to notice if one of the springs "somehow" came loose?
And beyond the horizon.... a sound was heard.

Or you just simply may need to replace the springs if you tend to "abuse" them a lot. Could be something simple like that to where you've worn the springs out.... I've seen it before.

I don't know why but I found that statement funny as hell. I was actually bent over laughing!

Anyway, sounds like your springs are getting soft. To replace em will cost you all of $5, and you can do it yourself.

Send me your soft springs, I like them that way.

Have you changed your brand/gauge of strings lately? Did you used to tune 1/2 step down, now you tune to 440? The stiffness of your trem action directly relates to the tension of the strings when tuned.

look at your pivot points see of they have flattend out on the floyd, those are not as good of quality Floyds on the wolfs sorry to say,
if not that then change your springs or your claw
tention.

Hmmm, thanks for all the "heads-ups"! I'll take a look at it again tomrrow (after work) and check out all your guys suggestions. You guys are awesome!

Homeunit, real? That's cool. I laughed too when I read your reply. Reminds me of a line from Bill Murray in "Groundhog Day" - "I may be having a problem"

"tripoutski" - that's a very good point. I have certainly tuned down a number of times before to play old VH, and the U2 d.v.d. (Elevation), but not on these current strings. Does that make a difference? I've always wondered about that. Right now I'm tuned to normal 440 and have been with these current EVH strings.

Rols - Where are my "pivot points"? And what is my "claw tension" Thanks for your help Mr. met Micheal Anthony in Arizona, but he lied to me man.

What Rols refers to as the "claw tension" is the screws that go into the cavity that the springs are attached to... may want to check that spot as well to see if it has loosened any.

And the pivot points are where the trem is balanced on the guitar (2 funky screws at the front of the trem and in the wood.)

Your welcome not a problem at all, you may be having a preoblem that I told Gec5150 to look for on his Korean wolf, the pivot points of the floyd rose (where it rests against the screws) may be changing position slightly when you use your bar, the pivot points on the floyd must rest directly in the crotch of those screws, too often times those screws are too low, you can lower those screws and your floyd height will go with them *to a point* then the floyd will stop it can't go any further down *but* you can still lower the screws past the pivot point against the floyd, and when you use the bar it can feel funny different etc etc. it's just something to look at.

YEP ROL WAS 100% CORRECT ALONG WITH THE FACT THAT THE GOOFY KOREANS HAVEN'T GOT A GRIP ON THE CONCEPT OF ACTION ANY WHATSOEVER. THEY MUST HAVE HAND STRENGTH LIKE A PAIR OF VICE GRIPS(FROM WHAT I DON'T WANNA KNOW!!!) I ACTUALLY FELT PRETTY STUPID AFTER ROL TOLD ME THAT ABOUT THE PIVOT POINTS I SHOULD HAVE SEEN THAT MYSELF. JUST ONE MORE REASON WHY I LOVE MY EBMM GUITARS. BUY EM AND PLUG EM IN THAT'S ALL I HAVE EVER HAD TO DO TO ONE.
Give me a bottle of anything and a jelly donut.....TO GO!!!!<br /> DLR 86'
