I have a CRATE GX15R and was wondering what the wattage is. Thanks.

Kenyon, it's one of the older crates. It's a 12 watter, and more of a bluesy amp than a rocker, but you can replace the 8" speaker with an 8" celestion that can take more punishment, and then use a pedal to drive it harder. The 8" speakers they used in the 15R amps can blow if you push them too hard. An 8" celestion isn't much in the way of dollars, and can improve the sound of the amp, but as far as wattage goes, it's still 12 watts.

I'll give it a try when I get some more money. Maybe I'll use a variac to adjust the wattage. J/k. It's loud enough as it is. My parents would hate if it were any louder What is the suggested pedal that I should get? I know didly squat about that stuff. I just know the basics since I haven't had an electric guitar but about a year and the amp just a few months. Thanx.

Just take your guitar and amp down to the music store in your area. They usually have a bunch of pedals on the floor. Try them out through your own amp, and let your ears decide. If you've got a problem with volume then a pedal of some sort will probably be your best way to go because you'll be able to keep your volume down and get the overdrive you want, saving your parents nerves and your speaker.
And if it makes you practice non stop and you become the next VH just remember who gave you the advice..
