I found Steinbergers for sale at musicyo.com for $249.00 with the trem and EMG pickups. Anyone know how similar this is to the one Ed used and if the quality of these is any good?

They are pretty similer Steinbergers just feel like Steinbergers.Ed had one of the first ones made. I believe it was a GL2T.I also wanna say that the bars are like a hot knife going thru warm butter! Real nice!

I think MusicYo.com's Steinbergers have normal bars.

I'm considering buying a Steinberger. Has anyone bought one from Musicyo.com?

dude, the quality between the musicyo steins and ed s gt2 is nt even close....first off ed s glt2 cost around 2500.00 .the music yo s arent even made by steinberger there made by hohner. the real glt2 has a polymer graphite body and neck with stainless steel frets, and a trans trem and emg 81 active pick ups...the hohner has a wood body and neck regular trem and emg select pick ups which are just run of the mill factory pick ups. music yo s a rip off website in my opinion...

You get what you pay for.

I don't t think that the website is a rip off. I think that's a great deal on a good looking axe. Who cares what it sounds like, it's $250 bucks!! Buy it for the style, not the quality of the axe.

I've been wanting to get one, but have been short on the cash lately.

If you're a serious guitar player, these new Steninbergers can almost be thought of as replicas, shit you can hang on the wall or let your 3 year old bang around on!!!!!!!!!

    Exactly jimmy.
With MusicYo.com's prices you can do your own experiments a la Hendrix.
With today's prices you'll probably pay more for the gas and matches.

Those are not the same ones Eddie played. If you want to get the same kind, go to Ebay and look them up, the GL model is the good one. The ones you found are cheapies made by Gibson.

Well that's true and it's not true homeunit. The guitar itself is not painted, it has a custom painted wood faceplate that was attached to it sometime during the 5150 tour. For instance when I saw them on that tour April 1, 1986, the Steinberger was the standard black. Later on, the faceplate was added, and I have a pic of the faceplate in a magazine...somewhere.

You're definately right about the EMG's because Ed complained about them several times.
