I recently got a four track recorder , It has a mic slot and i need a mic to record my musical creations. anyway what mic is the best for mainly guitar recording? I dont really want to spend more than $100. What kind of mic, which brand etc would work best?

Any microphone should do really. I guess so. I'm not too much into this sorta thing, so I'm just winging it.

I always look to Musician's Friend for help.

I'm afraid any mic. wouldn't do really if you're serious about your sound. Like HomeUnit says the SM 57 and 58 are the workhorses of the industry, and for the money you mentioned they're excellent. I've used a 57 to mic. my amp and for vocals for years without even one problem.
Some prefer the 58 for vocals, I find them a little too bassy for a guitar mic., but that's just my ear. Either one will deliver great sound.
