Quick question. . .what tubes did his amp have? I always thought they were EL34s, but today a friend of mine said they were 6550s. Which were they?

Anybody interested in buying my Super Lead 100 or my Suhr Modded Marshall JMP?

I thought it was the 6550's. I've got a '74 MKII, and that's what was loaded in mine. Switched mine over to EL34's, though.

They WERE EL34's. I believe it originally had the 6550's and he had it converted-not a major operation for a good amp tech.

You know, I've actually read an interview with Ed where he said that his Super Lead 100 was NEVER modified. Lots of mystery behind this amp...which is IMO, the Excalibur of guitar amps. He still claimed to use the Variac though...

Yea I believe BrownSound 1's right again. I read where he went along with a well known tech. (can't remember his name) who Ed said could say that he modded his amp for him, but after the guy passed away Ed said that although there were lots of plans, and money spent on ideas to modify it, there was never anything done and Ed just stuck with his variac.
