I was flipping through a sam ash catalog and i noticed they had fender strats and the squier strats. the squire was exactly like the regular strat(based on appearance and description only) but the squire was like 200$ cheaper. are they some kind of jip strat? or just not as good? thanks.

A friend of mine has a squire strat made in the mid 70's, I think 74. It was made in Japan, and sounds just like a strat should. Way different from today's squires.

I lucked out! I have a Cream Fender Squire and I have been pretty happy with it. It is not a Wolfgang or a Les Paul but I felt I got my bang for the buck. It is a good beat-around electric guitar but it is certainly not the elite professional choice. I think no matter what you play, it is more about the player then the guitar being played. You can be a great driver in a Porche or in a pickup. The whole point is being a great driver, not what you drive. What you drive distinguishes what you paid for, not how well you drive!

The squire strat is a lot different in quality of a normal std strat USA !
They use different Woods for building it , the neck is quite bad , and it's made in Korea and not in USA ! ... BTW , some squire may be good , but you have to be lucky ! ... and the squire is a good guitar for the beginners !

Hey Georgie ! ... Your words are partially right ! ... For me , a good guitar player may express your-self better with a better guitar ! ... Btw , he may play with a cheaper guitar too , and well , 'cause he gots talents ! ... But finally , your best stuff may came out better from your fingers if u got a ggod instrument !
