    I know some of you have talked about Warmoth parts to build your own guitar. Have anyone here actually tried building a Wolfgang or EBMM clone with Warmoth's VW body? I'd like to try this sometime, but I don't have faith that it would come out any good. Plus I'd have to have someone install the electronics for me. But I've always been fond of the EBMM natural finish with the quilt top...beautiful. And that would be possible with these parts.

    Sorry, I'm not too familiar with Warmoth stuff - what is the VW body? Is that the same shape as a wolfgang?

    I think with a little soldering practice the electronics are fairly stress free. The thing I would stress about would be fucking up the body - like drilling a hole in the wrong spot or something. That makes me cringe - especially if it was a quilt top! AAHHH!!!! It would be fun. I tend to want to get things like that done too quick - I think the trick is to do it over say a year and just take it REALLY slow. I just can't do that.

    Yeah, the VW body is a wolfgang or EBMM clone body. Looks like this:

    All right dangit, I can do this stuff. I've worked in electronics for the past 18 years and I'm also a pretty decent woodworker.

    Does this Warmoth place have a website (duh, go try Warmoth.com, dummy) or put out a catalog? This is the only way I can afford a gee-tar like this, being a family man and all. Thanks!

    Hey Steely,

    I've been on the net a lot looking for info like this. I say go for it, but I think you're at $700-$900 to get it right with all the hardware and luthier work. For that kind of dough, you've almost have a WG Special.

    Warmoths bodies are damn close to the EB's. You might want to check out edromanguitars.com. He's not a big fan of Warmoth and offers a WG clone but is a bit pricier. He also has the kit guitars to do the 5150 copy. There was another guy named Phil J. Collana or something like that making Kramer 5150 copies and damn cheap too but he is out of biz! Good luck.

    Kinda related to this topic;
    Wayne Charvel got some good-lookin guitars at his site www.wayneguitars.com with a EBMM clone and other stuff, but the site doesn't give any prices and from what I gather, are around the same price range as a Wolf Special.

    I've looked at edromanguitars.com. And actually driven past his place a few times. One of my best friends lives in the same town. He seems to know his shit.

    But I agree, once all is said and done it might just be worth it to spend the extra on a wolfgang. I do have a stoptail wolfgang standard that just melts in my hands (not in my mouth ). But I'd really like to see a Wolfie in the natural finish that the EBMM guitars had and with the quilted maple....know what I'm talking about? I think it looks sweet.

    Actually, I just got this address emailed to me: http://www.geocities.com/wolfront/rol.html

    Seems good for getting a wolfie special striped.

    Thanks for the tip Rick! What do you think of his Floyd and pick-up prices though? Are there cheaper out there?
