Normally I wouldn't bother with this here, but really I'm pumped about this thing.
I stumbled across it by accident, and picked this amp up yesterday. An original stock 62 Bassman.
I thought my blackface sounded good, but this thing is just fuckin amazing.
I've only dreamed about the sound this is giving me. I've had it for one day and my fingers are nearly shredded from playing.
I know it's not a 5150 or a marshall, but for the stuff I'm doing at the moment it sure does it for me.
Homeunit, guess which amp is coming to the clubs with me?

Yea man it does sound amazing. I've been waiting for this for a long time and it was a fluke.
I think there may abe a problem with your screen though cause the 62 strat is daphne blue.

Niiiiice! I used to have a silverface bassman that was converted to a blackface, that thing was sweet but again no where near what I've heard from brownface models. Great find!

Thanks guys. I've always wanted to but never played one that old so I didn't know how they sounded either.
I got rid of my original 66 blackface bassman, but for what I'm doing now I still want a fender and I've always liked bassmans but a blackface is as old as I've been able to find around here. I was in a store a/b'ing a 65 and two 66 blackface bassmans, and after about 45 minutes I thought I had one picked out, and was about to swing a deal with the owner. The store tech who's a friend of mine finally took me aside when the boss wasn't around, and told me to go a few blocks down to a studio and ask for a friend of his, and then tell him I'd like to try out the old bassman. He just smiled without going into details, and I thought it was kind of strange but I figured what the heck, I was already downtown. It was sitting in a corner, an early (march 62 according to the label and tranny stamps) with a maroon faceplate. They'd only been using it for studio work, and when I saw it I figured it must be a reissue, but I took the back off, (the inside of the cab is stamped Jan.8, 62) and opened the head(chasis), and it's 100% original, except for a few small electrolytic capacitors that always wear (dry) out in a head that old. They're only for stabilizing voltage and don't affect tone at all.
I had my beat up strat with me, and I literally started buzzing when I tried it out in the studio, but I was trying to act cool and not excited about it.
I told the owner who it was that sent me to look at it and the guy said I could take it home and try it out for myself.
I phoned him back today and told him I'm not bringing it back..lol
After we settled on a price(it is a bit pricey)he said I could keep it till I get the cash, cause he said this should be a player's amp, not just sit in a studio(I couldn't agree more..lol)and that for recording he can use a blackface, since most guys bring their own equipment anyway.
It has a completely different circuit and vibe than the blackface models and it is sweeeet.
My buddy says I owe him a favor(I agree), and I'm putting some of my other equipment up to pay for this but it's worth it.
Well, sorry to go on lke this. I'll shut up now, since this isn't the fender forum.
    Time to practice.
